Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Welcome, Daily Mash

We do like the NY Sun, but for the news a fellow really needs at 4:30 am before milking the cows and feeding the chickens, The Daily Mash is it.

For example, they explain why the French rogue trader really did what he did, and where he hid his losses. And they have another helpful sociological piece on The 40-somethings are a bunch of whining sh-ts.

Ironically, the item on the French rogue trader has an element of truth. He apparently was a workaholic in the sense that he apparently took only 4 days vacation in 2007, although he could have taken 30 days (six weeks). His problem though wasn't overwork, it was that he couldn't risk having anyone else sub for him; that would have revealed his games. That is why the Fed requires, or at least used to require, that every bank employee in the US take at least 2 weeks vacation per year, all 2 weeks in one block.

Very keen on the article in International News section "Romney promises multiple wives for all." Mormons might be on to something with this polygamy. As Wife # 1, am heartily sick of cooking and cleaning and would love to pass said duties to wives 2 & 3 and focus on raising Children 1A and 1B. Not sure that Husband is up to the staggering demand however, bwaa- ha ha.
