We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
A photo of midtown Park Avenue today, just north of Grand Central Station before the snow started, on my way to the Waldorf to meet Dr. Bliss for lunch at the Bull & Bear, and to catch an interesting talk or two from the sachems at the American Psychoanalytic Annual Meeting, including Drs. Otto Kernberg and Roy Schafer(the former whom I respect enormously, and the latter whom I have a deep gratitute and appreciation for, which I was pleased to have the chance to tell the old fellow today).
One hopeful sign for the economy: No bankers jumping out of windows, as far as I could see, and no disturbing blood spots on the sidewalks to upset the gentle and largely genteel Psychoanalysts who were gathered from across the globe to try to add to their understanding of the human soul.
strange that you should mention Dr. Otto as I was reading all about the BPI and PDI yesterday. Did not realize he is around the corner. Very interesting stuff. as far as the poor bankers I would watch out for Merril Lynch employees as thier shirts are definitely flying half their worth is gone and many of them were in a sell mood just a few months ago. Yikes I guess we have to sit tight for another two decades....
Why would they be jummping out of windows? Most of them are being highly compensated for their malfeasance. They have gutted out the companies they work for,put for sale signs up on most of america, and walk away with millions.I hate all of them.
light bulbs never go off except when you flip the switch. i can't speak for dr. bliss but i believe no psychoanalyst has the answers it is always a journey except for the believers of hinduism who do believe enlightenment is possible and I suppose Jesus did.
if you ever do find a psychoanalyst who understands his soul please forward his/her address to me cause i would like to meet them.
Bankers no longer jump out of the window ... they go to the gym. Since the credit crunch started, apparently the gyms in Canary Wharf have been full of bankers with nothing to do, waiting to be called (or is that culled) by the HR Dept
freud was i believe following more the darwinism link, there is no soul it is a process i think soul searching is more os a spiritual journey thing and a psychoanalyst would not be the preferable leader in that search. psychoanaysts are definitely more involved with the ego.
