Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

You'll notice that all of these were smaller, fairly high-compression (for regular unleaded) engines. Your big old SUV with 8.5:1 Compression probably wouldn't do quite so well.

Did I mention that ALL gasoline in Brazil has 23% Ethanol (soon to be 25%?) They chose that range because all cars run well on it.)

A 20% ethanol blend would knock about $200 MILLION/DAY off of our Balance of Payments Deficit.

Attitudes such as that (revealed in the quote) made in '93, when she was in her mid-40s, are not likely to have much evolved by now.

re rufus comment--remember too that price being set at the margin, just a very small supply-side gain (at any level of consumption) lowers relative demand and strips out big chunks of fear premium in pricing.
