Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

So, from the same city that gave us homosexuality as the ture meaning of the New Testament, we now have this:
http://www.livingchurch.org/news/news-updates/2007/12/3/seattle-parish-offers-astrology-workshop When you guys pick yourself off the floor, think of me at the kitchen sink--having a stiff drink of Hendricks! Yikes. Well, the Piskies are now simply beyond parody. I'm going to check out St. Bartholomew's in Woodinville and maybe a few other places. Or drop in on the Copts over by Alderwood now that their new church has largely been rebuilt after the fire. Have you ever been to a Coptic Christmas service? I sure haven't. I hope somebody gets up and follows Venables out the door, though I'm not holding my breath. Maybe swim the Tiber?
I was listening to the radio this morning and they were quoting the Democratic candidates on the updated NIE. All of them trying to make a point that this proved President Bush was wrong and handling relations with Iran incorrectly.
Am I nuts or does the NIE prove the reverse? I only had one year of political science (thank God) but doesn't this prove what a terrible wrong turn the Democrats have taken in the last four years? As I see this, back in 2001, with the country and Congress backing him, President Bush began to put pressure on Iran about their exporting Islamic revolution and attempting to develop a nuclear weapon. And with the country behind him and no obstruction from Congress this report shows that by 2003 Iran responded. In the last three years, Anti-war Democrats have increasingly attacked every effective policy to modify Iran's behavior and the result being the Iranian hard-liners are sounding and acting more bellicose. Iran still has a uranium enrichment program going on and can have a weapon within five years of re-starting their weapons program. So, President Bush, wants to continue the sanctions to pressure Iran to dismantle more of what they have already built. The candidates in their statements attack his position indicating to the Iranians that when the President is gone they can continue where they left off. In short, I think that the NIE shows that the President made the right decisions and the entire line-up of Democratic candidates dis-agree. And the entire MSM fall in with the democrats. So, am I nuts? You're not wrong. I'll take it a step further and say Bush and Wolfowitz & Co. knew this all along. Bush has never threatened Iran with military force. He's merely said 'all options are on the table'. The pundits have run with whatever they felt they could spin from that. Bush has known he had to keep Iran the bad guy on the block in order to scare the other Arab states to join forces eventually with us to settle the Israeli/Palestinian issue - our dues for our help - all to keep Iran from gaining Alpha status when we leave. Of course, I don't think we ever planned on leaving without a base there, but no Arab country wants Iran as a power there. The neocons knew this long ago, and they've had to time their news releases in accordance with how the war is going and with the political climate here. The timing was great. Bush threw down the gauntlet to Congress in the last two days to get on the stick. Most of the work going on in the Middle East is not up for public consumption, and I am amazed that Bush is still standing after being pilloried so by us and other countries. It is truly a fine balancing act, and years from now we'll read what the leaders had to say beneath the radar and we'll be shocked. Who knows... The U.S. may be paying Ahmandinejad to be such an ass. We're still the big dog on the block, and the neocons know how to keep it that way.
Know of one hot babe who looks just like Lafever except she is 50 now (and still looks hot). She dates her young sons friends. Have heard the boys talk and they have a slang name for older women who pick up and seduce boys and young men. They call them coyotes.
The "babe" is not in trouble for being a babe (which she certainly is). She is in trouble for molesting a young boy which just happens to be illegal. Even for women!
Whoops. Bad memory (getting old timers disease). The slang term I heard boys call a woman who likes boys and much younger men is not coyote. It is cougar. The babe in the story does have a bit of a cat like look. Nothing doggy about her.
Interesting: we have come a far distance from Ms. Debora Kerr in "Tea and Sympathy".
I'm leaving now for Sapmi (http://www.eng.samer.se/servlet/GetDoc?meta_id=1002) to begin my life as a reindeer herder. Bye.
hate being a cynic but i once bought a vacation at a Nevada "bunny farm" and when I got there it was a rabbit feedyard & meatpacking plant.
Re: Nuts
Nuts come in myriad color shape n size. Our Good President isn't setting Iran's play but follows the nuts inside and out. Iran has the bomb. Mahound nuts are given chance to check the baggage, fore blastin. Pullin back lettin em take another step back. Sighten in they forward "swell in sapphire smoke out of the blue cracks of the ground". Weak play strong and strong play weak. Beach boys have set the tune. Jay & the Americans chorus: Come a little bit closer You're my kind of man So big and so strong Come a little bit closer I'm all alone And the night is so long La la-la-la la-la La la-la-la la-la Ho ho la-la La la la-la So, Leag, You're saying the Chimp is going to let Ahmadinejad make some 'good vibrations'?
Right. And the Israelis are singing, "Don't Back Down". heh |
