Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

The IAEA, the UN, and several other international organization are functioning purely on inertia right now. Certainly from our point they are even inimical to world peace, not a facilitator of it. NATO is anachronistic and needs scrapping for a new model.

the question is can any human or group of humans stop these organizations? I think not, but I do believe it's time for Switzerland to host the UN for the next fifty years. Anywhere, just get them out of NYC and off US soil.

I fact we should just withdraw, or at minimum quit funding the UN.

I think it's good having them all in NYC. The whole world gets to see what capitalism and freedom can do - and they can have a lot of fun seeing all of that.

As long as they it on their nickel and remember even guests are supposed to have manners, lets leave the UN in New York. When they abuse hospitality, they should be asked to leave.

BTW, Christian Science Practitioners and Nurses aren't cheap, so the devout need health insurance to cover them too.

And would concur with the observation about the current crop of youngsters. When Popular Mechanics has an article about how to drive a nail, you know there is something wrong.

Yeah, and the columnist was an early adopter: "hordes of easily terrified, mindless fundamentalist evangelical Christian lemmings", "the dumber the populace, the easier it is to rule and control and launch unwinnable wars and pass laws telling them that sex is bad and TV is good and God knows all", "the melting of the polar ice caps". The man is more than dumb, he is a carrier.

I've seen a whole lot of stupidity in my time, but I can't recall, offhand, outside of the last Ted Kennedy speech, anything written by fewer operative brain cells than this American kids are dumber than dirt piece. The columnist himself does not possess the ability to think, if you wanted to write a parody of the brainless doom-mongers who ignore millions of examples to the contrary to hold up one example to stand for all you couldn't do better than this.
