We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I am back from my Adirondack hunt. Great fun, of course. I missed quite a few grouse, but I knocked down a few too. Plenty of woodcock around, but I am always ambivalent about shooting them. Glad I missed the technical problems on the blog: it comes of using rustic servers made of wood and baling wire. Saw a fine shooting star, too, and made a wish. Photo is the West Branch of the Ausable River, in Whiteface.

Has Harry Reid gone too far to be re-elected? Betsy. I think so.
Does half of Americahate Hillary? I don't find her very likeable, but I don't hate her. Just another arrogant, power-hungry pol, who has some wrong assumptions about life and human nature, who wants to use the fruits of my labor to build power, and who thinks she's smarter than she is.
Why is it that liberals seem to believe that recycling cans is an important issue, but defeating terrorism isn’t? Why do they put so much stock in the blathering of Al Gore and Michael Moore? Why do they regard secondhand smoke as a bigger menace than Mahmoud Ahmadinejad? What is wrong with these people?
Why will the same folks who’d call a cop if someone set foot in their front yard be so unconcerned about 20 million illegal aliens setting up camp in their country? And why will the same saps who work themselves into a tizzy if some small town sets up a Christmas tree in the public square defend a church’s right to provide a sanctuary for foreign nationals who have no business being in our country?
The Hillary! does, indeed, have firm negatives... so did Bill, come to think of it. The ability of this team to play off of third party candidates, put America through an emotional rollercoaster that left people so worn out that when important things happened there was no energy left, and the general manipulation of the media and punditry is a marvel.
I was watching Peter Paul's released video, and it struck me just what the Clintons had done and still do, to this day. They commit the prime sin of politics, of repeatedly stabbing friends in the back and get more willing victims for that treatment. I talked about that with my lady... she brought up a word to describe it... and I was taken aback. I don't like doing pointed, personal profile posts, but the more I read and the more I realized that I had been misled and misdirected and worn out the more I started to see that the word fit. The activities fit the label.
I admit to my biases, of them I give no doubt. But when the same activity is repeated over and over and over and no one talks about it as a problem? Then that is not a 'conspiracy' but a direct methodology being used under the maxim: Once is happenstance, Twice is 'bad luck', Three times is enemy action.
And so a type of post I hope I never, ever have to do again: http://ajacksonian.blogspot.com/2007/10/incredible-lightness-of.html
