Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

I agree with neoneo: The only reason to blast Turkey for what was done in 1917 is to undermine the fight for Iraq. It's not stupid - it's malevolent.

TNR - :snort: - How's that Beaucamp investigation going?
Turkey - Oil prices hit a new high - smooth move, Congress. Re: FIRST BOOMER.....blah blah prosperous...
I wrote the following on thes pages just yesterday. I don't give a damn if SS goes to multi millionaires if they've paid into it , it's their's. If they want to then donate it , that is their decision. Yesterday: OK, I see where the first Baby Boomer filed for Social Security, the worlds longest running Ponzi scheme ever.. Now a cascade of articles can be expected to spring forth, once again decrying the bankruptcy we are facing as the Boomer RELCLAIM what is rightfully theirs in the first place, minus the effects of inflation on their confiscations and whatever growth they missed by not having a minimum of 5% in the stock market. In their lifetime, (1946 to today) the Stock market has gone from a DOW Industrial Average of 192.1 with a volume of 1,442,000 shares traded to yesterdays close of 13950.33 at a volume of get ready ..2,025,560,000...THAT'S TRILLIONS FOLKS. It is quintessential malfeasance by our Congress not to have, in the 62 years since the end of 1945, addressed placing at minimum 1-2% of the Social Security confiscated money into the stock market ..the amount of wealth left on the table is staggering. And what do we have instead? Geraldo Riveras, Al Capones' secret vault…..bupkis....and a huge Ponzi scheme. This morning, from the pages of the San Diego Union Tribune comes one of the many germinating articles that will cite in bold print "Dog bites Man" This is a known event in the making for 60 years. It is probably the biggest failing of the "Greatest Generation" to have not fixed it when they were in power. Instead they just kicked the can down the road. Well now the Y'ers, the Y generation, some 70 million strong and born beginning in 1980 are going to shoulder the burden...with 77 million B-Boomers it should be quite an electoral shootout to see if Boomers can hold onto what is morally theirs. Blasting Turkey...
A pure political play right out of "The Prince". Fortuneately we won't have to put up with tawdry Democratic methods much longer. With Republicans retiring in what is beginning to look like a stampede teh Democrates are poised to return to the halcyon days of FDR. The Republicans, with the exception of Ronald Reagan , failled to lead when they controlled the power. They failed at politics. They proved they are an opposition party , not a leadership party. With Democrats controlling the levers of power you can fully expect this time around for the America of the 1950's; the Pledge of Allegience, 4th of July Celebrations, Thanksgiving , and the like, to fade into the new improved socialist culture. It is America in the 1840 & 50's, ramping up toward civil war. Yes, things are that uncivil and have become that much of a zero-sum game in DC. The George Bush administration is slowly being revealed as a historical disaster for the party. It will only recover if it campaigns hard on illegal immigration and winning the war in Iraq. Having done it's small part in underming the effort there, TNR is positioning itself to claim an equal share of what the left will see as credit for the loss.
Hillary , having beta tested her college thesis, ""There is Only the Fight ... An Analysis of the Alinsky Model," , she is poised and eager to reinstitute FDR like control over the American corpus.
Should she gain the House and the Senate with power enough, she can and will enlarge the Supreme Court, thus giving her all three branches of governnment. The Republicans were in the wilderness in the House for 40 years prior to New'ts revolution, but now even Newt is marginalized, done in by his own hypocracy. The promises of Regan for smaller government never came close to getting accomplished. It's been a steady decline sine then with Bush-Clinton-Bush each easily falling inot the third tier of previous Presidents. oops not finished...must hit correct button..
Bush I moved his lips and was finished in a flash. He followed that with not going to Baghdad. and finishing the job. Clinton was at minimum a sociopath and could have easily been a KGB mole, given that we know nothing of his trip to Moscow save to state he returned and immediately began operations inimical to the US foreign interests. Now there is only the fight, and the Republicans will be lucky to have any say at all after January 20, 2009. BushII, reborn, took the resolve of Lincoln in the Civil War, suffered the slings and arrows but failed to understand that America would never undertake a "long war" while the malls were still open. Iraq should have been levelled as was Germany and Japan and a clean beginning initiated. His Grant never materialized and he remained too long on bended knee waiting for Divine guidance. o/t but comic relief:
