We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
The American Academy of Pediatrics has gone over to the dark side. The sort of distrust that this sort of routine interrogation of kids could engender is alarming, and goes far beyond the rightful domain of medical care. Big Brotherism.
I would advise any parent to ask their kids what their pediatrician asks them about, and fire the doctor if he is doing this sort of thing. The number of beers I drink at a Red Sox game (2-3) is none of his damn business, and the potential for harm is enormous. If a child has emotional symptoms, the doctor should send them to a shrink who knows how to handle things.
"Nearly all children nowadays were horrible. What was worst of all was that by means of such organizations as the Spies they were systematically turned into ungovernable little savages, and yet this produced in them no tendency whatever to rebel against the discipline of the Party. On the contrary, they adored the Party and everything connected with it… All their ferocity was turned outwards, against the enemies of the State, against foreigners, traitors, saboteurs, thought-criminals. It was almost normal for people over thirty to be frightened of their own children."
Again we have the socialists using 1984 as a manual.
Combine for me, if you will, the images in the op-ed story with the idea of complete Hillary-care. Now you see: once the doctors are forced to be government agents, Canada style, the idea that they would be encouraged to keep tabs on you by the only people with guns and tanks (and your paycheck) isn't so unthinkable.
If having a private doctor makes you an outlaw, are you not living in a facist state? Not exactly robbing banks or plotting overthrow...this whole thing reminds me it's almost time for my annual DRE.
