171 indictments thus far for New Orleans post-Katrina pols, of no identified political party. (h/t Surber.) I think Katrina was very good for the bank accounts of New Orleans.

Maybe it's time for a good hurricane in western Mass, so we can all cash in. But no mighty hurricanes this year, despite Al Gore's pleading. Could he be wrong?

I don't really care which party belong to as long as they wind up in Angola Prison. I believe I heard that only one case was a post-Katrina event. Before I was able to get home after the storm I realized that the major shortage in New Orleans was of tar and feathers. I stayed to rebuild because the people here looked like they were ready for a change but the ruling political class are still too intrenched. Because of the total lack of Ethics enforcement here the only justice comes from Federal Proscuters. ( Don't feel sorry for us. Just make sure it doesn't get this bad where you are.)

amen, DickieT --i grew up in Baton Rouge & Lafayette --I knew when the levee topped that this would cost a billion dollars for every head that could be sort of counted --and that the actual needy would still get beans, and that where the rest of the $ went would be easy to see on paper but impossible to comprehend in fact.

There is a bare ray of hope, and his name is Bobby Jindal.

You had the Big Dig (into taxpayers pockets). That was worth as much as any hurricane. Mass pols are just better (quieter, anyway) thieves than the boys in LA.

Either looting or affinity for crustaceans. Maybe both.

Oh, and that "party in control thing" - that one is shared with New Jersey and Illinois too, so maybe it's more important than the affinity for crustaceans.
