Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Hillary a socialist? Classical Values. Her famous quote, in which she sounds excited, rather than reluctant, to use your money:

"We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good," she told San Franciscans in June 2004. As first lady, she said: "We must stop thinking of the individual and start thinking about what is best for society."

Quite a revolutionary sort of statement from an American politician. What strikes me, again, is that she views such things as positives, rather than occasional necessary evils and impingements on freedom. I simply do not want her to do anything for me if the price is my autonomy. I'll let you unpack her statement yourself, word by word and phrase by phrase.

Hillary and Company are already taking things away for the common good. Socialized medicine is already here. Medicaid accounts for 22% of state budgets with healthcare overall accounting for 32%. The killer is, once the power-hungry have ridden the communitarian theme to absolutism, the ordinary individual's innate altruism is made irrelevant, and even stupid.

Like a young black father who realized, back in welfare's heyday, that his job (and his presence) was hurting his family's finances.

Thus the collectivist's theory about human nature is forced to come true.

Who's 'we' and when did the well-being of the individual come into conflict with the well-being of the society? A true believing statist dim wit becomes a reality challenged sociopath when given the power. The woman is a crank.

Also, something to add to your second point. The founder's intent was separation of church and state -- not separation "from" church and state as so many want to force.
