Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

before i even scrolled down re; Macon mayor my inner voice said ..this guys gotta be a nigger ... now nigger is a prejorative but in the case of this mayor being African American who is supporting a dictator who is courting ever enemy of the United States..it's a perfect fit.
Habu:
Like an agent provocateur, you tempt me to delete that comment. Honestly, my thought was (accurately) that the guy was probably some benighted lefty black mayor, but I didn't think "n". The guy requires a more refined, sophisticated insult, I think. Something on the order of Leftist fascist-loving commie-sucking asshat, or something like that. New Hampshire used to a conservative bastion in the northeast. There was that famous newspaper, and its editor, always portrayed in Time & Newsweek as some sort of duckbill platypus oddity.
Buddy, yeah... It makes me sad how things have turned for my lovely state.
Jephnol, well, the story isn't over yet --where there's life, there's hope.
"British novelist Margaret Drabble, speaking just after the liberation of Iraq. Ms Drabble said: “I detest Coca-Cola, I detest burgers, I detest sentimental and violent Hollywood movies that tell lies about history. I detest American imperialism, American infantilism, and American triumphalism about victories it didn’t even win.”
Man, she's nuanced. Oh yeah, and an ass-hat. As for Massachusetts... Well, I live in New Hampshire and I don't want their socialist idiocy rubbing off on us (more than it already has). And yes, I think Kerry and Kennedy are ass-hats, too. Welcome to New Hampshire Blue staters, now go home. Those books are all sophomoric, and, just downright silly. This is what's really going to happen. Mankind won't change an infinitessimal whit. Everything's going to look pretty similar, the third world will still lag, but
THE MACHINES WILL BE "OUTRAGEOUS!!" If you were/are here in 2050 it would/will take your Breath Away. You folks are way too PC. If you realized that one of the main planners of the Civil Rights movement, one who was beside M.L.King when he gave his "I have a Dream Speech", Bayard Rustin wrote an entire essay on why the use of nigger wasn't bad.
Rap lyrics are full of the word, blacks call each other nigger all the time. This self imposed restriction that a cracker can't call a mayor who courts this countires worst enemies a nigger is your hang up not mine or the rappers or the civil rights leaders, or any number of contempoearary black scholars who see the hypocracy of not using the word when it is properly applied. It was properly applied and I make no apology for it. The WASP culture in this country has bent to every imaginable cultural dictate that the Black African American community has demanded over the last 50 years. Educationally we have race normed tests, dumbed down curriculums, and generally watched as the Black culture contributed little to the broad sunlit upland field of this nation .. I don't use the word lightly and I never speak it in public but one thing the crackers have to know is that just as the Islams see weakness in our tolerance so do other cultures, and they always take advantage of it. "White Men Can't Jump" ... tell me about that ..what if it had been a movie that said "Black men can't do math" think Jesse would have said something..hell yes....but nobody I know in the white community in a position to say anything said a word about that movie title. Hell, Bill Cosby has been practically thrown out of the Black community for telling it the way it is...... Nope, when a mayor of a city starts touting Hugo Chavez and he happens to be black, he's the agent provocateur and deserves the label most applicable and searing to his ears..nigger. Habu, you may be missing the point. It's a history-freighted word which inadvertantly insults the user and plays right into the memes & schemes of the likes of Chavez, and Marxists in general, who base their entire house of propaganda upon USA being racist and exploitative of other races. So, aesthetics aside, using that bomb of a word is giving aid & comfort to the enemy, with no return that I can identify, other than release of frustration at the cultural Marxism all around us.
IOW, don't give the anti-Americans any ammo. All that is outside the area of aesthetics, the way I see it. On the aesthetic side, I see no reason to insult the great numbers of black Americans who are just as anti-Chavez and anti-dipshit as you and I are. I grew up in 50s Louisiana and I know the word really well, and as far as I'm concerned it isn't a good word. As you say, it does for a fact have certain novelty applications --but then it requires an instruction manual for users and thus disqualfies itself for general use. Further, search SCOTUS on "fighting words". The law recognizes the special nature of some words. I know you can turn that right back around as an example of PC, but, my point is, if lots of people see a word in a certain way, then there's no denying that definition, as words are what words do. I could've saved a lotta typing by just copying your statement that the mayor "deserves the label most applicable and searing to his ears", and adding that that label is quite likely most delightful to the mayor's ears.
As in, "AHA! Gotcha! See, we ARE oppressed by (and you can fill in about six various cultural, economic, and racial blanks here)". Great points Buddy. However the use of that word isn't going to stop the Mraxists from tarring us anymore than they would anyway.
I qualified my original usage as to why I felt it was warranted and I still think it's been applied correctly...would I yell it at him in the Macon City Hall...no...would I want to..yes I've always been a firm believer in the fact that a person gets the type of treatment they deserve and by the same token allow to be tossed their way. I'll pay the freight .... been called a honkey, craker etc for no other reason than my skin tone but I usually just let it go...still do 99% of the time, but sometimes you just have to call a spade a spade and not try to shovel shit across the barnyard. BTW..do you use the word queer in any context anymore? Even as in odd..probably not for fear of misinterpretation. Fag offlimits? Self imposed due to the "Gay lobby" creating the "Gay is just who we are we can't help it" atmosphere? Anyway I recall on this very site the N-word being used within the past two months by the owners of this site...that would be interesting for them to locate and justify. "I know you can turn that right back around as an example of PC, but, my point is, if lots of people see a word in a certain way, then there's no denying that definition, as words are what words do"......
and that my friend is not always a positive, as we saw in Germany when it became PC to become anti semetic which made it very easy to kill 6-8 million Jews. I would contend that the wrong philosophies have defined the PC world precisely because the corporations and businesses were forced to enforce PC ... the worker bees just had no choice ..just like it always happens. actually, I guess you're right in that maybe I have pussified my speech. No, I don't use any of those words anymore. I think the kids refined me --they don't like 'em, are horrified at me when one slips out. I tried to raise them ladies & gentleman, figuring they can 'go downmarket' at will anytimme they were beered up & in the mood --but they had to at least know what was & wasn't refined. Honestly, why lament the passing of slurs--they're there when ya need 'em, and more powerful for their lack of overexposure.
It is not a word I write or incorporate in my daily speech..I recognise it's sensitvity in our culture, HOWEVER, if I deem it apropos, then so be it, it is my call.
Actually I still think you can use the word if you so choose. It has not been outlawed yet. Were it to be I would be delighted for the Rap industry would fold up tomorrow. Have you heard any good Polish jokes lately? Me neither...all the ethnic stuff is off limits Here is a great NO N-word song that is very funny.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugk4MhwNfiA Never hear "broad" or "dame" or "twenty-three skidoo" or "zoot suit" either. Ethnic jokes fade because ethnicity itself is fading. EU, globalism. Hell, that's what the war is about --the Islams want no blending. For crying out loud, it oughtta be the other way around.
Negro Please!
By Keith Boykin, in politics Monday, February 13 2006, 5:12AM Should white people be able to use the N word? Should black people use the N word? And if black people use the word in the presence of white people, does that give white people permission to use it? A white English teacher in Louisville, Kentucky seems to think it does. At least that's what he said at first. Now he claims that he called one of his black students a "nigger" to teach him a lesson about not using the N word. Read the comments too. I will locate what bayard Ruskin had to say about it and maybe thrown in some thoughts by the group NWA or Niggers With Attitudes which is what is stands for...of course you might be exposed to the word 'ho and a whole bunch of trash treatment of women but that's OK , right? http://www.keithboykin.com/arch/2006/02/13/negro_please#more Make sure to read Keith Boykin's bio. we get permission to use it ..like whose the arbiter of your tongue? PCism .... how 14% of the population forced a cultural change on America
or PCism ... how disparate groups of often times deviant behaviour forced an entire cultural change on a nation that opened up the dumbing down and increase of social pathologies within that culture. take your pick ..it's still the tail wagging the dog. Remember Ofay? It never bothered me --neither does honky, or cracker, or any of 'em. Not hillbilly, stumpjumper, nor Coonass, either. But I do dislike people who cast asparagus on Texas.
Ok , I did the search myself
Saturday, June 30. 2007 School Desegregation, the post-Brown Court, and "good niggers That was the title line to a thread. Now will someone at MF explain the hypocracy at work here? I get excoriated...oops like you said yesterday ...you do this entire MF thing for your own entertainment ..ok I see....Habu Hoisted on you own petard. Funny. John Lee Hooker has THE perfect song for petard hoisting .... Boom..Boom http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOyj4ciJk34 Gotcha It was the early fifties, down South. I was 5 or so, me and a friend off to the store for some candy, head's down, skippin' down the sidewalk, working out who would get the odd penny from the quarter we had, chanting enie, meany, minie.... just after I got to the 'nigger' in that old rhyme I noticed a foot in front of me, looked up and there was an ancient stooped over black man, carrying a cane. He looked to be a thousand years old.
We had all stopped, having nearly run into each other. The old man having heard my rhyme gazed down at me with his rheumy eyes. He said nothing, just held my eyes with his, and as I looked into his eyes I saw misery, a lifetime of it, it somehow passing between the two of us. Then, after a moment or two, I felt shame, base elemental shame at having used such a word in front of this old man. I then uttered a softly spoken 'sorry' to the old man and me and my friend continued on our way through life. Bullshit!
Right's right, and wrong's wrong. Your mother taught you better than that. You insult me, as well as yourself, when you use that language in my presence. Sober up! Rufus, you have your reasons for being outraged at discrimination.
We how ever discriminate in everything we do, and their are good and sufficient reason for doing so. many of you seem impervious to the corrosive effects of supporting PC. Too many here need group hugs and affirmation that their positions are correct. Sad. A cry for validation is always sad.
