Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Re the quote from the socialists: Pretty words, if you just got here from Mars and knew nothing, nothing at all, about the achievements to-date by either our capitalist system, or the socialist system.
Nancy P...here are two starting points.
"Back in 1996, I wrote about the 57 members of Congress who belonged to the "Progressive Caucus." The Democratic Socialists of America highly admire these left-of-the-left members of Congress, i.e., open socialist Bernard Sanders, I-Vt., who should be barred from serving in the U.S. Congress because his goal is the destruction of our constitutional republic (we are not a democracy). Here's just a few current members of the Progressive Caucus – all Democrats except for Sanders: Lynn Woolsey, Calif., George Miller, Calif., *Nancy Pelosi*, Calif., Henry Waxman, Calif., "Mad Max" Maxine Waters, Calif., Bob Filner, Calif., Diane DeGette, Colo., Alcee Hastings, Fla., John Lewis, Ga., Patsy Mink, Hawaii, Jessie Jackson Jr., Ill., Barney Frank, Mass., John Conyers, Mich., Jerrold Nadler, N.Y., Major Owens, N.Y., Charles Rangel, N.Y., Dennis Kucinch, Ohio, Sherrod Brown, Ohio, Peter DeFazio, Ore., Robert C. Scott, Va., Bernard Sanders, Vt., James McDermott, Wash. From World Net Daily article http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=45735 From Discover the Network Discoverthenetwork.org http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/individualProfile.asp?indid=1248 Both of these sources identify Nancy P and other prominent Democrats as members of the Democratic Socialist of America a subset of the Socialist Internationale. Best, Habu Fear not , she's a socialist deep down in her marrow. More Nancy Pelosi and Socialists.
If it talks like a socialist, walks like a socialist, legislates like a socialist...then she's a socialist..they are trying very hard to be sub rosa about their operation but their aims are evident. Take a look. http://www.sovereignty.net/center/socialists.htm Yes, it's obvious to those who understand that the grand language of the Manifesto is Newspeak (AKA "doubletalk").
But what about the legions who ain't so savvy? After all, voters put that list of "progressives" in office. Not claiming savviness for self or present company--but some have lifted the veil a tad, you must admit, while the country still labors under a lot of "what veil?" attitude.
Witness the media libs, who (studies show) assume they themselves are 'moderates' championing 'balance'. Like Hillary, whose theme lately has been "balance" (or, as she pronounces it "bee yal enz"). Me, I'm so far gone, I hear her as advocating meeting the Four Horsemen "halfway". Surprise!*Nancy Pelosi is really, and officially, a self-confessed Socialist*
Nancy Pelosi is a Socialist. She, like Bernard Sanders, is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America. You can check out the membership list here. Here is the mission statement of the Democratic Socialists of America, from their homepage: The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is the largest socialist organization in the United States, and the principal U.S. affiliate of the Socialist International. DSA's members are building progressive movements for social change while establishing an openly socialist presence in American communities and politics. At the root of our socialism is a profound commitment to democracy, as means and end. We are activists committed not only to extending political democracy but to demanding democratic empowerment in the economy, in gender relations, and in culture. Democracy is not simply one of our political values but our means of restructuring society. Our vision is of a society in which people have a real voice in the choices and relationships that affect the entirety of our lives. We call this vision democratic socialism — a vision of a more free, democratic and humane society. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1140124/posts I have mentioned several times in the past a book written in the late 1980's called: "Destroying Democracy: How Government Funds Partisan Politics (Hardcover) by James T. Bennett (Author), Thomas J. Dilorenzo (Author) Today the same funding mechanisms are in play. YOUR tax dollars are being spent in the BILLIONS to advance a Marxist Socialist agenda.... I know, gee why didn't I know this? We'll not everyone is a political nerd like Habu (get a life dude) plus I really really don't like socialism...I'm an Adam Smith guy all the way... So know what you're up against going forward ..Knowledge is Power... BD...that's the point...the are not "open" about what they want.
In the book I just cited the authors point out how the Democratic Party decided to cloak their true objectives by dropping phrases that were directly Marxist and go with the word "Progressive" to describe and hide their intentions..."Progressive" worked well with the focus groups they used so they started using it....but make no mistake...most of the Democratic Party believes in the Socialist Manifesto .... government ownership of all big businesses, outlawing wealth by redistribution of it. The only way to combat this "creeping socialism" is to expose it for what it is and who is a member attempting to enforce it...that currently is Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic Party. Why do you think the NEA has for the past thirty years railed against teaching civics and American History in our schools? There are unfortuneately a great many of what lenin called "useful idiots".. Here's a nice Q&A on lenin's "useful idiots" http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=135140 I'm just trying to expose Nancy to the public for what she and her fellow Democrats are attempting, and have been attempting since FDR. Good on ya, Habu. Socialism would be fine except that it utterly corrupts everything it touches.
Other than that, whoopee, neat Che tee shirts! NeoNeoCon essay is great--thanks! Federal largesse for left-wing NGOs shouldn't surprise anyone. After all, one way to view the political battle is that it's between the government and the private sector.
In looking at the graphic accompanying this post, I note with some sadness that there are currently no Dunkin' Donut stores in the Pacific Northwest. There were a few such stores a while back, but they beat a retreat back to California and Texas. We do have Krispy Kremes though, which are thought by some to be inferior. No way for me to know.
NJ...
Buddy is right. I just had a chance to read the "War is not the Answer" piece and it is great. I may seem like a one trick pony about this Democratic Socialists of America thing but it is so far under the radar that we have as many Democrats who adhere to socialist policies it's not even funny. I would appreciate some honest feedback on how many MF reader/contributors and lurkers were aware of the relationship between these organizations. Secondly it is a mystery to me why this connection isn't highlighted by conservatives in Congress. I intend to send emails to my Rep and Senators asking why they do not make it known that the motivations of one of our major parties comes from the writings and thoughts of Hegel,Marx and Engels. Join me , the answers should be goobledegook but hey....no guts no glory. "...no guts no glory."
There will be civil war before your fears manifest fully, Habu. Skook, I'm partial to Krispee Kreme, myself. I like the glazed, chocolate-covered ones. Yum. :) I did read that Dunkin' Donuts' coffee is better than Starbucks and half the price. (Who would pay a fin for a cup of coffee??) . |
