Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

The Haditha story. Bruce Kesler has been following it closely. I suspect that all will be exonerated, but their lives will be in ruins and their hearts broken. The deportation abyss. Why is it so difficult to throw someone out? Michelle Gaza. It's now a brand-new mini-state in the Middle East, controlled by Iran. I think the old-time smoke-filled back rooms might have picked Romney. I think Giuliani could win a national election, but could have trouble with some primaries. I like Fred Thompson.

The treatment of the Haditha Marines never fails to infuriate me.
So the place was so dangerous at the time that the investigators could not do a thorough investigation - yet they can accuse the Marines of pre-meditated murder? Group witness interviews? No cross-examinations? Incredible. So now a Lt. Colonel is supposed to worry more about the enemy and civilians of questionable allegiance than his own battalion! In the 1991 Gulf War, we simply drove past (in some cases over) dead Iraqis to get where we were going and never reported them to anyone. Did Patton worry about counting dead Nazis or even French civilians? Back then, military justice was administered by the appropriate people – NCOs and front-line officers. I worry we have lost the mental strength to win any armed conflict. You sir are right on the money.
In Vietnam we had a very effective program called the Phoenix Program, prior to that monoker it was called ICEX.. Not too long ago I read an article by a reitred general who said that we simply don't know how to war anymore...too many this and thats to do before you do what you're really there to do..kill the enemy. Best Habu NJS, when we finally get backed into a corner, will we continue to endure ACLU-think?
I agree with your take NJS. Maybe especially re military/battlefield justice. It was still being handled that way back in my old days of 65/68. But like so much else these days, those who have never done it think they know better than those that do do it. Protein Wisdom put a few links together that illustrate well how this war is being lost.
http://proteinwisdom.com/index.php?/weblog/entry/23296/#comments H. Reid deserves every word of condemnation that he receives. If there were justice in this world he would be in the docket for sedition, if not treason. The snippet from VDH, as usual for him, lays things out pretty well. The American people need someone who will stand up and tell them the truth about what is happening. I'm not holding my breath though. I'm with you on Fred Thompson. He seems to have his head on right.
Agree w njs.
Nobody out there I want to vote for next year.let's write in someone from our own Christian Militia... Bought happiness book at Costco last month but too exhausted by work and worried about wacked out kid to stomach another pep talk. I am contrary:was once asked to leave a cognitive behavioral group for an intractably Eeyorish attitude. Bracing for domestic gladiatorial combat as kid who wants to join peace corps returns home to try and dissuade other kid with military notions. Who needs TV! re: the 08 elections, there is a lot of sizzle and smoke right now from all the candidates (well a few emit fumes too) but only hot dogs on the grill. I want to see position papers, and even 2009/2010 proposed budgets before deciding what suit I vote for.
re: Ford selling off Volvo, Jaguar, et al. Seems like this would be a good time for progressive VC's and hedge fund types to buy a car company and make the car they want us to drive. Al Gore could lead this effort. HA, good suggestion Walt. Al could control from top to bottom, somehow I think he would like that. Detroit fared pretty well with that philosophy for a long time and succeeded. I can see it now "The ALcar".
I am so proud...I just got barred from my first website. You will NEVER guess which site it was either.
Think of a site that uses curse words as routine discourse. Think of a site that has a vicious dog as a symbol. Yes, I was barred from THE ANTI-IDOLITARIAN ROTTWEILLER!!! It wasn't my kind of site anyway so when I gave it my best it proved too much for them. I mean let's face it Habu the Kind & Gentle has been known to giv'r a rip eve'r now and then. Tward the end of the intercourse I was letting up a bit but still hoping for a keyboard CVA.... Finally the leash holder for the Rottweiller, an Emperor Misha came on with some threats. When I address him as Empress Michelle, well, let's just say the site that bills itself as the Jack Bauer of sites had a meltdown ...now I've earned a blob blockage... Where'd I put that Dale Carneiggiiee book? Easy Habu , you've already offended one site irretrievably.
If you keep it up you'll be down to only 5 or 6 thousand sites by the time the Grim Reaper comes calling...so think about it. Habu,
Everybody hates me today, too. Except the kid I just spent hours on end shopping online for the best price on a birthday computer (gaming laptop, Asus A8Js w a 512 video card!!!). That one is snuggling up to me like a cat after the can of tuna... "A true friend stabs you in the front." Oscar Wilde "Pay no attention to the criticism of men who have never themselves written a notable work." Ezra Pound "On dealing with critics, Never retract, never explain, never apologize; get things done and let them howl." Nellie McClung "The world is a stage, but the play is badly cast." Oscar Wilde Or Winston CHurchill to Lady Astor "'Yes, Madam, I am drunk, but in the morning I shall be sober and you will still be ugly." Or he also dissed Bessie Braddock (Labour MP). Once, she remarked, 'If you were my husband, I would put poison in your coffe.' Churchill replied, 'Madam, if you were my wife, I would drink it.' and my favorite today "Show me a sane man and I will cure him for you." C.G. Jung Say this one to yourself when vexed at opponents "I have found little that is good about human beings. In my experience most of them are trash." Sigmund Freud You are too sweet..how could anyone be mad at you?.....Me I can understand as I egged them on to no real end other than to be controversial within a group of similar minds....
I think it was Groucho Marx who said "I won't belong to any organization that would have me as a member. " Adapt ,improvise, overcome.....thanks for the kind words...BTW you do need to write... That Mr. Freud feller shore don't beat around the bush.
Habu,
I don't know if this might help explain the fury, but one of Misha's good friends, a blogger he helped set up, died last week. It was Allan Kelly from BMEWS. He was found dead at home after being in absentia to the point people from the blog called the police to ask them to go check. Sad. . |
After the going-ons of the past few days, this shouldn't be a surprise (H/T: Hot Air). Naturally, the MSM, in this case, the Boston Globe, would rather put the blame on Israel than admit that Fatah is as much a terrorist organization as Hamas is, and...
