Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Birds at the feeder in Yankeeland

Today: Fox Sparrow, Chipping Sparrow, Purple Grackle, Goldfinch, Slate-colored Junco, Cardinal, Blue Jay, White Throated Sparrow, Song Sparrow, House Finch, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Chickadee, Mourning Dove, Tufted Titmouse.

Nobody at the feeder in Campbell NY. Stopped feeding because of the black bears. Is there any type of bird feed that doesn't attrack the bears, but brings the birds? Yards a mess with dear hides and bones from the dogs. I think that I'll load the feeder at the end of the week when cold and snow is suppose to return. Maybe the bears will go back to sleep when the snow returns.

I've got about the same assortment. The juncos and chickadees are pretty much gone. Flushed two woodcock on a walk the other day.
