Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Globalistical Warmening Updates

Reading about Al Gore's Papal Indulgences, err..Carbon Credits, I found a lyric running through my head. I can't remember who the singer was so I suspect that its a leftist folk singer from my youth. But the lyric seems very appropriate for a commercial for Carbon Credits.

"If living were a thing that money could buy, the rich would live, and the poor would die".

Good catch! That line's from a Bahamian lullaby/ statement of faith in which a dying mother comforts her children, maybe herself. Perhaps it's in the Bible or elsewhere originally. Have got the Peter, Paul & Mary and Kingston Trio versions on old scratchy records, the music still bittersweet and pretty, (altho’ I can only tolerate PPM in –very- limited doses these days):

"Religion" not "Living"??? Funny how the mind works.
Well, I think my mental edit makes more sense, short a syllable though.
Works better in the verse than; heating oil, or gasoline, or air conditioning, or anything else I could think of that Al Gore thinks he deserves but we don't.
