Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Chicken Little Update: Mr. Sun ignores UN Warnings

Leave science to the scientists. American Thinker. Of course, the UN Report hasn't been released yet - they are fiddling with the real data until May. Why? Boston Globe. (h/t, Viking)

I suspect someday we will confirm that much climate variation is based on solar radiation. Coyote. Makes sense, since the ice is melting on Mars, and Jupiter is getting more stormy. In the meantime, climate change may become a hate crime - against Eskimos!

Why is the Climate Change thing such a bandwagon for the UN and other governments, and for the Left? Because it's an excuse for a money and power grab - whether it's true or not. Pure and simple. It is only rational to be skeptical about such hysterias, because they have always proved to be wrong in the past. But, as we've said, we don't care whether it gets colder or warmer - we can cope.

I always try to remember the #1 rule of political power: Trump up a crisis, then offer to solve it. No, insist on solving it: "We can do better." Just consider: Have we ever heard (except for Reagan and Maggie Thatcher) governments offer solutions which reduce government power?

Ignoring the covert nuclear club

Right now, we are in a critical phase of the close-in fight in Iraq. Iran has been a major player on the ground since the early days of the occupation; this fact only acknowledged by those outside the beltway and CENTCOM headqaurters. Why this administration and its national security experts do not tackle our regional adversaries in this war is beyond comprehension. And with the disloyal opposition in control of Congress, we no longer have the time to fritter away our military power on half-measures and questionable hearts-and-minds operations.

Simply put, it's time get on with the dirty business of winning the war

Speaking of global warming...there are few places I have ever been in NA that get snow like Oswego, N.Y. I recently read an article about retiring there and I am considering it. lol. No hurricanes, no tornados, no earthquakes, no forest fires, no traffic jams. Just HUGE lake effect snow storms that shut the whole place down completely for a few days every now and again. Also RE: the UN and global warming. Google Maurice Strong. It is his baby. IIRC, when he was the head of Ontario Hydro he took taxpayer money and 'bought' a rain forest in Costa Rica with it. Also, IIRC, The University of Peace in Costa Rica is his deal and his wife runs (or did run) Manitou, the new age religious resort in Colorado and a bottled water company near there. And Kyoto really does pose a threat to Canada and the US as it will greatly curtail the development of the Alberta oilsands and I have little doubt that OPEC would be very pleased about that. All this babble about the new energy technologies is so far, mostly babble. And developments for oil, gas, coal, nuclear, and hydro have all been hamstrung by the left.
