Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Lynching of the President

A quote from Ben Stein's piece in American Spectator:

And suddenly it hit me. The media is staging a coup against Mr. Bush. They cannot impeach him because he hasn't done anything illegal. But they can endlessly tell us what a loser he is and how out of touch he is (and I mean ENDLESSLY) and how he's just a vestigial organ on the body politic right now.

The media is doing what it can to basically oust Mr. Bush while still leaving him alive and well in the White House. It's a sort of neutron bomb of media that seeks to kill him while leaving the White House standing (for their favorite unknown, Barack Obama, to occupy).

Here's how to defeat the press.
1. stop you subscription
2. email them hostile emails
3. if you need the Sunday paper, steal you neighbors before the sun comes up.
4. get your neighbors to stop their subscriptions. it makes # 3 harder but there's always one or two neighbors who won't comply
5. can those neighbors, during a moonless night while wearing a ghillie suit.

It has been clear to me for the past year that the old generation of hippy leadership had pulled out their old play book. THey are working EXACTLY according to the same game plan they used in the 1970's--EXACTLY. What I cannot for the life of me understand is this: how come the white house administration, and the leadership of the Republican party don't get it? How come they don't see the next moves coming? GEEZ LOUISE--I could have told you word for word Jane's speech last Sunday, with the exception of her introductory sentense about what was different between this war and the last war. These students demonstrating in from the Capitol yesterday were clearly uncertain of what to do next--none of those moves were spontaneous as they were in that other time. WHY WHY WHY doesn't the Republican party get it? I had so much hope for Tony Snow--he is a very good communicator. He has been almost silent since taking over his job at the White House--though I do believe he did an excellent job witht he state of the union speech--there needs to be many more good quality communication strategies coming from those in charge.

Ben Stein is late to the table if he is only now realizing the media's political agenda.

The American people realized it long ago, and the main stream media are bleeding money.

Elections now turn on a few percent of 'swing' voters, who earn that status by remaining 'undecided' until election day.

Critical fact: anyone who can be undecided late, despite the wealth of available information, is ipso-facto subject to disinformation--regardless of how blatant that disinformation may be.

Thus you have this open disinformation campaign, because it must be omnipresent & ubiquitous in order to enthrall those few percent of shallow-skimming fence-sitters.

Those of us who see the game don't really matter in the calculus.

Yes, entities such as NYTimes, and really all the "agenda media", have become niche products, but that's ok, the nomenklatura is that niche, it will deliver the power and the power will deliver the money (some other way than retail sales), when & if successful in the political campaign.

I read Bernie Goldstein's "Bias" a couple of years ago. (Yes - this article mentioned here is kind of after the fact.) The first paragraph/story he tells in "Bias" so enraged me and opened my eyes. I think I read the book in one sitting.

This is Marshall McLuhan writ large.

After the last election I canceled my subscription to the Hartford Courant. It was replaced by:

1. On-Line Comics services (tripled the number of comics, kids are happy!)

2. On-Line subscription to NY Sun.

3. Just for fun a real subscription to the NY Post! Now there's a smile every morning at something in the paper.

This is not just national issues but local stuff as well that the MSM corrupts.

Living on Long Island many years ago, I remember a great NYC newspaper called the World Telegram & Sun, if that was the correct name.

The logo of the current NY Sun looks almost the same as that of the old WT&S. Are they related?
