We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
May I second that sir ?? my skin is crawling literally just thinking about the next 20 months of bullshit that we will have to listen to this woman spew... not to mention the many political careers she will ruin in order to get what she wants... Oh Vince ? has anyone seen Vince ??(foster)
A Hilla the Hun ( NOT a HUN)
The Republicans will have no one to blame but themselves. Since endorsing "the big tent" theory which enbrace more people but along the way had it's message so diluted as to become meaningless they paved the way for a hard corps "cadre" of neo-marxists to tell Geobbels "Big Lie" over and over.
That the Republicans have the backbone of a chocolate eclaire is charitiable. Those who do stand for something like no illegal aliens or no more funding for the UN are marginalized by those who simple want the perks of power and the cool letterhear stationery. My Congressman , Cliff Stearns, is a prime example. I can't name a single thing he's done in 20 years in the House.
Republicans are considered the conservative party. Does that mean you stand real still at attention in front of the firing squad?
I'm with you Bird Dog, can't stand her either. She'll be like Kerry, ignoring the constituents who voted for her while she campaigns non-stop. Then if (God fobid) she wins, we get Slick Willie back too.
When compared to other times in our history, particularly the founding of it, todays pols are so deserving of our disrespect that it is amazing we haven't had another revolution.
They are venal, cowardly, and sem to be very self content withthose traits. Makes ya wanna be really really mad. OK that does it, yes, I'm really really mad.
Oh, is it time for the football playoffs ok , be right there.
Anti-Clintonites will need to watch their rhetoric--she will ju-jitsu every attack into "advantage, victim".
The vast Right Wing Conspiracy was always laughable--even more so post Nov 07--but, and this is a big but, it's not laughable at all to the vast phalanx of semi-informed mass culture consumers whom she will personally escort in their millions to the polls.
The trick will be in savvying up a few million of these easily-gulled. I don't think we can do it the normal way, thru information dispersal. The electorate is so 50/50, the future belongs to whichever side can wake up a few million of the determinedly asleep, who go into deeper and deeper slumber the more you yell at them to wake the hell up.
this is gonna be a minefield. it's already a minefield.
I think you're right Buddy. It's 50/50 ( wouldn't you just love to bitch -slap the 50% not on your side)
Now the somnambulent swingers/deep sleepers/poll creepers.
I suggest door to door bearing nylons and chocolates and pictures of Hillary in a thong bikini, cheesy thighs and all.
That should wake them up.
Ok quick review:
(snip, but there's more--even a box-chart of statements)
Times of London says:
HILLARY CLINTON is to be presented as America’s Margaret Thatcher as she tries to become the first woman to win the White House. As she entered the 2008 presidential race yesterday, a senior adviser said that her campaign would emphasise security, defence and personal strengths reminiscent of the Iron Lady.
“Their policies are totally different but they are both perceived as very tough,” said Terry McAuliffe, Clinton’s campaign chairman.
Prof Bainbridge ripostes:
You bet their policies are different. Hillary Clinton favors paternalistic big government. As laid out by *OnTheIssues.org*, her education policy might as well have been drafted by the teachers unions: Testing only for new teachers. No vouchers. Limited parental choice. Opposes tort reform. Federalize health care. Rated 82% positive by the NEA and 85% by the AFL-CIO. Rated a "big spender" by NTU. Anyway, let's go to the record. When you compare key quotations side-by-side, it becomes clear that Lady Thatcher was all about liberty and prosperity, while Hillary is all about unions, big government, and high taxes and spending.
