We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Gotta be honest, I was expecting a surprise or two in the animals to beware of while hiking. It was a bear, snake, moose, wolf, wild boar, mountain lion bites man story.

And no mention of bison, or especially loose/feral cattle. Those can mess you up as bad as a moose, and there's a lot more places they can be encountered.

When knives are outlawed only outlaws will have knives.

This highlights the utter stupidity of politicians. Does anyone seriously think this will stop the radical Muslims from stabbing people? Of course not, it is nothing more than the politician trying to look like they are doing something to fix the problem. So innocent workers or hikers will get arrested for having a knife in England but it will have zero impact on crazy Islamic knife attackers.

While they don't have the bluish tint, we were warned that lights were very bright from the dealer when my wife got her car.

Indeed they are. People are continually flashing their high beams at us when we meet at night. In defense, I usually run it with the brights on where possible, so oncoming traffic can see me dim them. Even that doesn't always work and some enraged motorist turns their lights to bright just as we meet.

None of this would be a problem if they would just polarize windshields and headlights. They could have started doing that maybe 60 years ago and blinding bright lights wouldn't be a problem today.

The headlights are bad enough, but the emergency vehicle lights are painful, especially the ones on the police cars. I actually am writing a letter to the IES subcommittee that makes recommendations for things like that.

Affirmative action was ALWAYS about division tactics and quotas and had nothing to do with merit. It was communist identity politics version 2.0. The 1.0 version was class identity but it just wasn't selling in the US. Thank the Frankfort school and the Gramsci/Marcuse gang for the rewrite.

Reshoring... where does the US get the capital goods. US manufacturing sent production offshore and, in the process, also sent the skill to build those products offshore. As the first commenter mentioned... it is much faster to deindustrialize than it is to industrialize. Placing tariffs on imports will subsidize the relearning curve.

Our second coup was Richard Nixon. The CIA did not want Nixon to end the Vietnam war. The deep state did not want Nixon to curb the CIA powers, investigate the JFK assassination or clean up Washington. To understand what the CIA did in the most simple terms is this:
They set up the Watergate breakin to force Nixon out, Nixon knew nothing about it. Four of the Watergate “burglars“ were CIA operatives. They were acting under CIA control.
Nixon’s VP (Agnew) was forced out so they could install Gerald Ford into the position to become president after Nixon was forced out. Ford was a CIA operative. He would quash all CIA investigations after he was installed as president.
Once those key actions were complete They got Bob Woodward hired by the Washington Post just so he could publish the CIA propaganda. Woodward was not a reporter, he had no experience in it, there was absolutely no reason he would have been hired into that position except that the CIA made the Post hire him. Woodward was also a CIA operaitive.
Mark Felt was the contact for inside information known as deep throat. Mark Felt too was a CIA operative.

Woodward’s job was to publish all the dirt including disinformation that Felt would provide to him. The goal was to get Nixon impeached but Nixon’s resignation was even better since that precluded any testimony that might expose the CIA’s part in the coup.

Our third coup was Donald Trump in the 2020 election. A masterfull plot involving a pandemic massive, massive voter fraud and followed up by a monsterous effort to elimiate Trump forever by using lawfare against him. It all worked, not completely though and that glitch in the plot allowed Trump to be reelected. Not without two assassination attempts though.

Our forth coup… Yes it’s coming, It has to. Trump is waging war against the deep state and if he were to investigate the CIA, DOJ and FBI a lot of big names will go to jail. There are trillions of dollars at stake and incredible power at stake. A lot of what is going on is like a duck, calm and serene on the surface but pedalling like crazy under the water. Right now the huge cabal of DOJ lawyers and law firms used by them, The FBI and CIA traitors, a few dozen generals and hundreds of unnamed, unidentified national and international “actors“ are trying to find someway to stop Trump and Vance. They cannot let Trump succeed. It’s coming…

2016 - Trump wasn't aware of what was going on inside DC - he figured it had a lot of people like him, wanting what was best for the country as a whole.

He didn't know there was so much rot. So many groups who were in it all for themselves, and screw the people. Sure, say all the 'right things', but in the background, just laugh at the normies and do what you damned well pleased.

2024 - There's a lot of people who say a lot of shit about Trump, but one thing they've never said is that he makes the same mistakes twice. He's come in loaded for bear. He knows the terrain, he knows the enemy - and he's not going to back down or think 'Well, they mean well', because they don't.

Like you, I think they're going to try to take him out. Trouble with that is if they do - then they both make him a martyr to the folks who've been waiting for someone like him to come along - and then they've got President Vance to contend with. And I could well be wrong here - but after an assasination of Trump he could well go scorched earth.

We'll see. But I'm rather... optimistic. There's a lot of change that needed to be done, and it's finally being started.

Federal freeze on financial assistance gives exception for Social Security and Medicare payments. The Trump administration is freezing nearly all federal loans, grants, and other financial assistance starting Tuesday afternoon, according to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). The freeze includes any money intended "for foreign aid" and for "nongovernmental organizations," among other categories. "The use of Federal resources to advance Marxist equity, transgenderism, and green new deal social engineering policies is a waste of taxpayer dollars that does not improve the day-to-day lives of those we serve," said the memo.
The OMB memo further said that the federal government spent nearly $10 trillion in fiscal year 2024, with more than $3 trillion devoted to financial assistance such as grants and loans.

The free shit is being 'stress tested' and disappeared.
