Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Musk Pens Pro-AfD Op-Ed In Major Paper; Editor Resigns
One little statement in this article encapsulates the entire left wing plan to rule over the world: "The AfD is in parts xenophobic and anti-Semitic. That is why it is a danger to Germany." It is a lie. The left tells themselves these lies about the right and that gives them license and pleasure to declare themselves above those that they slur. This was the master plan in the U.S. calling the right racist, sexist and homophobic to sway the ignorant masses to vote against the right. This is of course the classic technique used by communists all over the world. It is their standard attack when confronted with facts and truth. It is their silly and childish version of "I know you are, but what am I?" HAPPY NEW YEAR to all writers and readers on this site. Thank you for all you do.
The younger people believe Carter was inept but he had his heart in the right place. His corruption and his sheer hatred for Israel remains unknown to them. Also unknown is how powerful and wicked Rosalyn was in Georgia politics. For years after losing to Reagan, the Carters were discarded and ignored by the DNC and the media until Bill Clinton embraced Jimmy.
If that 'tribe' disliked him, it speaks well for his character.
the fireworks picture is upside down, and it is bothering me.
Jimmy Carter was horrible. Biden is inept and greedy, and immoral. Carter was evil.
Jane Fonda and Jimmy Carter were 'birds of a feather'.
The loathsome Front Page shill, Daniel (((every single time small hat))) Greenfield, denouncing Jimmy Carter of wearing a false religiosity throughout his White House years, illustrates the venom of the Talmudic mindset when goyim don't genuflect before the Chosen's agenda.
No, it illustrates the old-school southern Baptist antisemitic view that Jews only succeed by being righteous according to fundamentalist interpretations of the OT. Carter was on record in the 70s before he went national saying that Israel should never be fighting by conventional means, but by prayer and fasting, or they didn't deserve peace.
A horrible, vicious man, deeply partisan, and quietly, smilingly insulting to even mild opposition. He was the prototype for Obama more than for Clinton, who had a different schtick AVI: The anti-semitic accusations against anyone who veers off the tribe's agenda, are wearing thin. You really need to find another hobby-horse to ride.
You make it sound like you and others have only "veered a little" from some solid body of agreement among Jews, who then punish people... by saying bad things about them? And this is somehow related to Talmud?
Some people do get called antisemites for very little. You and Jimmy Carter are not among them. AVI: Jimmy Carter was a decent and flawed man. He was a fair to middling president. In his 2006 book he called out the settler state of Israel for what it was and remains- an apartheid ethnostate, engaging in human rights violations, ignoring treaty obligations and now the ongoing Gazacaust genocide and land grabs. If opposing such makes one an anti-semite it is not an reproach but badge of honor.

Well, Haidt certainly didn't win the smartphones debate with good research and answering decent objections to his critics. Blaming the phones is one more foolishness along the lines of blaming video games, dungeons and dragons, TV, dime novels, and pool halls.
Yes you got trouble Right here in River City You've trouble with a capital T And that rhymes with P And that stands for phones I was originally convinced by Haidt's argument but have had to eat my words in the face of better data. I hate it when people who aren't as smart as me have better arguments, but sometimes our plausible explanations don't turn out to be true. While there may be some debate about smartphones making folks dumber, it's pretty obvious they didn't make folks more polite. Else why would the word "phubbing" be invented?
Smart phones, the internet, computers, they all are good. Not just good but life changing good. But they are addictive and children are easily mislead. I would give my child all the technology available but I would do everything in my power to have them learn too. Our schools for the most part can provide a few years worth of education to a child and all the rest is babysitting and union wage demands. We need to dramatically improve our schools AND offer more than classes on the same thing they took last year. We need better schools for STEM and trade schools for those students that prefer blue collar. We need to impress on parents how important it is that they guide and parent their children with school work. And we need to get the disruptive children out of the classroom and into something that fits them better. Not everyone should go to college but everyone that should go should have that opportunity. If we don't manage this problem taking smart phones away will be worse than meaningless.
Who the hell is running the country? It's on 'Boeing' autopilot.
