Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

I believe the sentiment is "the government should take the other people's money, and then the government should allocate the money to my pet project or cronies.

I'll cut out the middleman and do my own philanthropy, thank you. And pay fewer taxes as well.

Starting with premise that there is a God and that God has given man free-will in this world... acts of charity through free will are surely more likely to convey grace than similar end results driven through coercive taxation coupled with bureaucratic tossing of darts intended to remedy mankind''s needs.

Er, we just had an election which pretty resoundingly put this nonsense to bed. It was never more than a strident minority with a megaphone in their hand spouting this crap. Nobody believed them, and we just proved that.
