Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Is autism on the rise in America? Or is the diagnosis on the rise and the rate hasn't changed? There is a lot of money at stake. Assistance to families with autistic children, to schools, to doctors, to big pharma, to all kinds of NGO's and friends of government and politicians. It used to be that there was "autism" and the child/adult was literally non-functional. Then there was the "autistic spectrum which included children and adults who seemed quite normal over a very wide spectrum down to the few who were non-functional. Did it really change? Wasn't there always an "autistic spectrum" and those at the higher end had to make their way through life without special attention or help just like everyone else?
Cui bono? Lawyers, mental health professionals, doctors, health care workers and corporations, and on and on. If you suddenly took the money out of the autism diagnoses the boom in autism diagnoses would plummet. We would still have real autism. We would still have those people on the fringes of the autism spectrum but they would be finding their place in society just as they did in the millenniums before all the attention. And billions of dollars would be saved. Of course there is a downside too, a lot of mental health workers would have to find real jobs and the grifters would have to find new grifts but maybe that is how it should be. It won't change the struggle and pain of families with children with genuine autism. BUT it might change the focus from grifting by inflating the numbers to actual search for effective treatments. The medical profession has sold itself to the government in exchange for money. Like education, the more it is subsidized the more expensive it gets and the less service and competence you can expect.
QUOTE: Trump, RFK, and the Autism Dilemma ... But Kennedy, who is 70 years old, made a salient observation last year in an interview: “I have never in my life seen a man my age with full-blown autism, not once. Where are these men?” Uh. Look! Squirrel!
Let’s see. Musk is 50. And has a form of autism. Not full blown. And he’s not 70. B. Hammer: And has a form of autism. Not full blown. And he’s not 70.
Most people with severe autism don't spend a lot of time in the public sphere— for obvious reasons. Some studies have shown that autism can become more severe with age. Kennedy's ignorance is not an argument. Temple Grandin, a woman with "full blown" autism. When people who are old now were young, many people with severe autism were institutionalized.
I presume you're aware that the last SCOTUS justice appointed by a democrat president couldn't or wouldn't venture a basic lay person's definition of "woman."
And that the us federal government is the largest purveyor of misinformation and disinformation in the world. And that its primary target for that misinformation and disinformation is US citizens. And that the FDA has regularly offered horrible and counterproductive nutritional advice. That they lied about the effectiveness and safety of the covid "vaccine." And they lied about their role in creating the covid 19 virus. And that it is among the most corrupt, wasteful, and authoritarian institutions in the world. So Kennedy and other Trump nominees are less than perfect. They're better than Leviene, Brition, and Butteddge by a mile. And your concern is not about their incompetence, but their potential competence and shrinking and weakening your beloved federal bureaucracy. I'd respect you more if you just came out and said it. James4HJ: I presume you're aware that . . .
None of which is relevant to Kennedy's ignorance. James4HJ: So Kennedy and other Trump nominees are less than perfect. No one is perfect. However, Kennedy is grossly misinformed about medical issues and has no experience running a large bureaucracy. Why not ban recreational boats? Yes indeed. Ban all boats with engines -- sails and oars only. AND --- ban all off-road recreation -- motorcycles and ATV's any thing with a motor. Pack animals, hikers, muscle power only.
QUOTE: Saturday Miscellany ... Wendy Sherman, one of Obama’s primary negotiators for the Iran Deal and deputy Secretary of State, had a master’s degree in social work. No foreign policy background whatsoever. Before working as an Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs and then as a Deputy Secretary of State, Sherman had previously worked for the Center for Public Leadership (which works to produce leaders with a global perspective), the Albright Stonebridge Group (a global business strategy firm), and the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs (concerned with international security and diplomacy), then as an Assistant Secretary of State for Legislative Affairs, and as a Counselor of the United States Department of State. QUOTE: She was one architect of the Iran nuclear deal. The Iran nuclear deal put the breakout period for deploying nuclear weapons at about a year. Without the agreement, the breakout period is largely unknowable, but it is probably just a few weeks. Wendy Sherman and the Albright group... mainstays of the WEF, NWO, and BBB globalists who are absolutely, positively sure that they know the way to Utopia. They simply can't leave the world at peace through a single administration. Warmongers one and all bring democracy to the world one bomb at a time.
There is literally zero challenge in a degree social work. A child could accomplish this, someone with an IQ of 90 could do it as well. All it requires is to take the classes, show up and agree with and praise your instructor. That's it!! That is your entire challenge to get this degree.
Compare that with a degree in math or computer science. Tough courses, tens of thousands of hours of reading and work outside of the classroom. Assignments you cannot fake or even plagiarize. Unless you are a genius or close to it your work will just not be up to par and everyone in the classes and teaching the classes will know it. Now take a graduate from either discipline, i.e. the basketweaving degrees or STEM degrees and put them in the position of "as an Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs or Deputy Secretary of State" and see the difference. The basket weaver will be a yes man or have a few intelligent "aides" assigned to them so that they don't screw up. They are basically place keepers doing the bidding of the swamp puppeteers. But the genius level employee with a real degree in a real field of study will not be controlled, will not sit down and shut up. When faced with corrupt leadership first of all they will know and understand it and secondly they will not be a part of it. They will speak up and if they don't see changes they will resign and they will, in matters of truth and patriotism, they will be whistle blowers to expose corruption in government. And THAT is why the left hires/appoints people with degrees in Social Service or gender studies. They are too stupid to know better and they are easily lead. They do not understand the phrase " offer me money offer me power I do not care!" and if they did it wouldn't matter because money and power is what they want and they will commit any fraud to get it. You’re reaching for the stars today. What a bunch of, what was your favorite term? Oh yes, Gish gallup.
“Center for Public Leadership (which works to produce leaders with a global perspectivemarxist ideology)” Oh yes, Madeline Albright. I can still see the picture of her clinking champagne glasses with Kim Jong ll. Madeline Albright, the person that believed the world would be better off if America, and its technologically superior weapons were shared with all the communist authoritarians. So, Bill Clinton gave China the keys to the software on how to build silent screw for submarines. Who knows what else that dimwit did. Do you never tire of promoting communism? OneGuy: There is literally zero challenge in a degree social work.
The claim was that Sherman had "No foreign policy background whatsoever," not that her graduate degree wasn't in foreign policy. The claim was false. B. Hammer: “Center for Public Leadership (which works to produce leaders with a [i]global perspective[/u] marxist ideology)” Again, the claim was that Sherman had "No foreign policy background whatsoever," not that you don't like her foreign policy background or your misrepresentations of her policy positions. The claim was false. Stuart stands corrected. She has experience that makes her eminently unqualified. IOW, she has learned to parrot the same orthodox BS about diplomacy, society, governance and economics that has brought the world to the precipice and primarily serves the upper-class and upper middle-class progressives and neoliberals. And been credentialed by institutions who serve the same people.
Speaking of parroting the same orthodox BS...
"The claim was... " Squawk! "Again, the claim was..." Squawk!! Quibble-DickZ just gotta quibble! Squawk!!! James4HJ: Stuart stands corrected.
And that makes Stuarts already weak argument—that Trump can appoint Hegseth without background qualifications because Obama appointed Sherman—without foundation. The Penny case is following the same rutted road as the drug addled George Floyd case. Drugees out of control, unable to control themselves, threatening society but, as always, just becoming another 'victim' of the patriarchy. Aided and abetted by incompetent and corrupted government 'justice'.
Another big UN climate conference... still plenty of taxpayer grifting funds available to be wasted on the 'expert' administrative state and their 'expert' researchers. Jen Psaki wants German speech guidance and rules in force here. Better if she just moves to Germany. I think Miz Psaki would prefer the speech guidance and rules of Iran, and so she should move there.
