Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

QUOTE: SpaceX Engineer In North Carolina Has Dire Warning: Biden-Harris' FEMA "Actively Blocking Shipments" For Relief Respond to Rumors and Confirm the Facts Related to Hurricane Helene Response and Recovery: FEMA has enough money . . . No money is being diverted from disaster response needs. . . FEMA does not take donations and/or food from survivors or voluntary organizations. . . FEMA does not conduct vehicle stops or handle road closures with armed guards -- those are done by local law enforcement. First rule I apply when considering any source you sight:
Information is likely manufactured to obfuscate actual facts. Louis Miller: First rule I apply when considering any source you sight . . .
Because, as everyone knows, "Is not!" is a stronger argument than evidence. FEMA has little enforcement power, which devolves to the state and local authorities. “Information is likely manufactured to obfuscate actual facts.”
Which part of that sentence is so hard for you to understand? Your quoted source is the same as asking a man actively pulling the knife out of the chest cavity of his victim, after you and dozens of eye witnesses observed him repeatedly stabbing: Why did you kill that man? And the murderer says, “I didn’t do that.” B. Hammer: Which part of that sentence is so hard for you to understand?
We understand the claim fine. It's anecdotal, contradicted by FEMA and local officials, and without independent verification. As FEMA doesn't generally have the authority to conduct vehicle stops or road closures, it requires more information.

Anecdotal? There are dozens and dozens of citizens on the ground saying they are being stopped from giving aid in various ways. Private helicopter pilots being told no; unless you get special permission from the government.
However, as is typical for you, unless it is a republican administration, you side with the government. So, you cite FEMA, with absolutely no consideration that they are lying. You spread the democrats misinformation.

There are not dozens of witnesses stating this. There are hundreds of bots on twitter saying this. What you are referring to are lies and rumors by people who believe the bots.
This is mostly the result of a poorly made statemtnt by TEMA, not FEMA. TEMA made a dumb twitter statement, people misunderstood it, and foreign agent bots spread misinformation based on it. But there is zero evidence that it's happening. Much like Zachriel, you are being a useful idiot. Not everything is a conspiricay.

Just because it is on X, it is a conspiracy theory?
Here, read through this post. Are they making stuff up? Why the red tape? Why are government agencies blocking citizens from helping citizens? Is this attitude okay with you, Jack? I guess Elon Musk is a useful idiot too? But it’s on X, so it must be a lie. At some point, after dozens of lackluster performances by government officials, from local to national, you would think that people would wake up to the fact that the government is incompetent.

Great. As virtually everyone and their brother has a smartphone, you can surely point us to a video of such an encounter.

The "migrant" scam is going to crush us. IMHO everyone involved in it needs to go to jail and every "migrant" needs to be deported. Every NGO participant, every government worker, every politician who aided and abetted these crimes needs to go to jail. Everyone involved with this massive illegal immigration are traitors to their country and to American citizens.

I have been reading this elsewhere. Other groups trying to bring in supplies are experiencing similar problems. Axelrod says the quiet part out loud. Via Ace: David Axelrod notes that, in a happy accident, it does turn out that maybe Harris-Biden's deadly delinquency could cause problems turning out the Trump vote. https://x.com/clayandbuck/status/1842266038035177642?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1842266038035177642%7Ctwgr%5E77d6bc47b8ccafc25ab83d46564618868514e105%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Ftwitchy.com%2Fdougp%2F2024%2F10%2F04%2Fdavid-axelrod-says-the-quiet-part-out-loud-about-slow-storm-response-possibly-costing-trump-votes-n2401785 The World Is in Love with America
Back in the day [70s, '80s], lefties told us that people in Latin America hated us in the USA/America, for our supporting dictators, economic imperialism, what have you. My experience as a tourist and worker in Latin America was, on the contrary, that being an American was an asset, a door opener. Very much so. Granted, my speaking Spanish helped. I doubt that someone who didn't speak Spanish would have gotten invited into so many homes, because a conversation would never have commenced. What did Latin Americans like about the US? Economic opportunity, compared to their home countries, was definitely a big part of it. I knew Guatemalans who walked 20 miles on jungle roads to apply for a job at a drilling rig in the jungle. But it wasn't just that. Because my wardrobe identified me as a furriner, several times in Argentina someone would come up to me to denounce the military regime. What did they like about the US? The music. (Though I wonder what they now think of rap...) The literature- a friend told me he liked Whitman's Leaves of Grass. Our capacity for self-criticism. Our initiative. I met a lot of Latin Americans who had lived in the US, in addition to those who were tourists. One Argentine Jew told me that he had gone to a professional conference in the US. He told someone at the conference that he was Jewish. So what, was the response. Whereas in Argentina, a lot of people had a strong dislike of Jews, and didn't hesitate to express that dislike. After working in Latin America, what did I like about the US? Private enterprise in the US- government owned telephone companies, railroads, or oil companies were, for the most part, disasters in Latin America. In the US, companies, for the most part, kept their word, and honored contracts. In Latin America, a business contract was just a piece of paper, to be followed or ignored at one's discretion. What did I like about US government, compared to Latin America? Efficient government. Police that don't solicit bribes. A country where the small guy had more of an even chance than in Latin America. My time in Latin America turned me into a flag waver. Your government at work https://theferalirishman.blogspot.com/2024/10/if-you-saw-clip-about-private.html#comment-form
Does anyone else see an eerie similarity between the government response to the Maui/Lahaina fire and the Appalachia floods. Is it "just" incompetence or is it intentional? Watch closely as this unfolds. Next they will declare the areas off limits even to residents. Then you will see police or other armed men guarding roads to keep citizens prying eyes from what is going on. Finally the government will declare that these areas are now uninhabitable and ban people from rebuilding. Everyone in Appalachia or traveling into Appalachia needs to turn on their cameras or cell phone cameras when they encounter any government employees. We need to document what they are doing or not doing. There is a story here that our government doesn't want told.
Meanwhile, at the direction of the Biden administration, hundreds of active-duty U.S. service members are delivering food and water to distribution sites in the most hard-hit areas.
There were thousands of active military deployed during Katrina. The Federal government's response has been somewhere between paltry and useless to date.
John Fisher: The Federal government's response has been somewhere between paltry and useless to date.
Certainly not useless. As for paltry, there is no magic solution for widespread disasters. There will be plenty of time later to determine if a better job could have been accomplished with the available resource. Most of the complaints so far seem to be based on questionable rumors. "When states began legalizing marijuana nearly three decades ago, initially for medical use, they set in motion something of an unintended public health experiment...." We're still a ways from Peak Pothead, but spend a week in Colorado and you'll see where it's going. And it ain't pretty. Breaking News!!
It's official. FEMA has been renamed to ILRA. Illegal Alien Resettlement Agency. Kamala has already spent all the money reserved for emergencies on your replacements. You're on your own, no one is coming to save you. It wasn’t just FEMA funds Biden /Harris redirected towards the illegals.
The Biden/Harris administration took $230 billion from Medicare to fund EV tax credits. When seniors premiums started spiking Biden/Harris took out even more money to pay off insurers to delay price hikes until “after the election”. Kamala Harris told Liz Cheney, “I also want to thank your father, Vice President Dick Cheney, for his support and for what he has done to serve our country."
Dick Cheney is an unrepentant war criminal whose "service" was dedicating his career to waging wars of aggression. The decision to appear on this show, in a week marked by a national disaster and rising Middle East tensions, has raised questions about Harris’s media priorities and her reluctance to face tough questions from mainstream reporters.”

Some weird stuff going on with the page margins here in the comments section - most of the comment lines stretch far to the right, off the visible page.
It can happen when someone posts a very long url. See comment #3 above. It is recommended to embed the url or use a url shortener such as tinyurl.com.
