There is a lot more here than what was discussed. First of all the women at protests are there for a very specific reason. They can assault a man and get away with it and if there is any self defense then those social norms are used to further assault the man and even to use the court system to punish him. If you pay attention you will often see men who are their only to protect the women so that they can feel safe to assault and get "defended". It is a trap and the intended victim is usually someone completely innocent man. Why? Because it makes good propaganda. That is why Hamas sacrifices their women and children and use them as human shields.

I ask any man what would you do if 3 or 4 women attacked your wife or girlfriend beating her and she had done nothing to them. Of course you would intervene and it would require force. You may think you wouldn't punch one but against 4 women intent on doing your wife harm and no doing harm to you the ploy of simply pushing them away will not work. So what to do, take a beating maybe even killed or serious harm or fight back.

From a legal position you would be smart to allow an attacker to punch you a few times or even stab you once or twice before using force to defend yourself. But from a realistic best interest of the individual point of view you should not let someone who is intent on assaulting you get within arms length and if they do you should be prepared to give them your best punch immediately and continue until they are down and you can safely get away. If your attacker is bigger than you or there are more than 1 of them you should shoot the closest and if the attack continues shoot each of them. If you don't have a weapon than you will be beaten and perhaps killed and it is likely that your attackers, who are known to the police, will never face real justice. Those are your real choices and it has nothing to do with gender.
