We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
Zulu indeed was a great war movie. While on that subject, and please excuse my whataboutism, but take a look at Twelve O'Clock High. That did not involve the few beating the many, but rather the raw courage of young Americans facing death in aerial combat (and a super first fifteen minutes). On the 2019 version of Midway.
It was a classic example of superior weapons, grim determination and training overcoming incredible odds. I don't think it will work for Taiwan though. It probably won't save our carrier fleet in the Taiwan straight either.
I agree with you on Taiwan, but do not underestimate the difficulty of moving an invading force across open water -- See what happened to the Spanish Armada, among other lessons from history.
Zulu is a good film but takes the obligatory swipe at Christians, The missionary in the film, far from getting drunk and fleeing was decorated by the queen for his actions
I concur that Zulu was a good movie. The surviving defenders were very fortunate.
Had the Zulus had a competent general, they could have overwhelmed the defenders rather quickly. They just needed to attack from all sides at once with everything they had.
