We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. No surprise at all. When inflation always benefits government you can be sure there will always be inflation right up until economic collapse where we dive into deflation as debt defaults.
Government changed the definition or inflation the same as they changed the definition of vaccination. BLM burning/looting and mayhem simply become "mostly peaceful protests."
It is the government and the MSM that reports on the government that have always operated with a malleable moral code.

There's a lot to be said to include borrowing costs in the cost of living (pre-1983 housing method). That can help explain why people have yet to feel the recovery. However, a significant difference is that, while conventional inflation is cumulative, borrowing costs tend to recede as fast as interest rates do. The other point is that using the pre-1983 housing method, CPI is dropping very rapidly.

If you pay attention to interest rate graphs you will notice that interest rates run in an approximately 80 year cycle. The rates bottomed in the last few years and we can look forward to about 35 more years of interest rate increases until they reverse course.
Anyone carrying a debt load is in trouble, that includes the government. And the Federal Reserve does not set interest rates, they simply follow the rates set in the open market. Far too many think they set rates... they are followers.

The FED is lying to us. They are borrowing and printing for more money than they have admitted to. They have literally declared an emergency and as part of that declaration they require that their actions to deal with the emergency must be classified at the highest level. The Country/economy has collapsed and the FED is propping it up with massive influxes of cash and guarantees. If the Democrats lose on Nov 5th the FED will stop the cash infusions on Nov 6th and allow the total crash of the economy.

We almost lost the Verrazano bridge last night. It was another huge container ship that suddenly lost power as it approached the bridge. Pure luck that tugboats were available to stop the destruction of another bridge. What a "funny" coincidence, huh!

I'm waiting for legislation that makes it illegal for Artificial Intelligence products to represent themselves as real.

For example: When you need to resolve a problem and you call a number, or bring up a chat window. Corporations have figured out that they can deploy A.I. to filter out people or direct callers to the representatives that are 'experiencing unusually heavy call volumes' at this time (and any other time during any 24 hour window).

It usually wastes at least 2-3 minutes of your time demanding to speak to a 'live human' before you actually get one, with the A.I. deflecting your demands with additional questions 'to be helpful'.

I view this as fraud. There oughtta be a law prohibiting a phone answering device from opening a conversation with a human without first identifying itself clearly as a robot and giving the user an immediate opportunity to diver the call to a live human. When you dial a number, you are dialing for a human, not a fax machine, not a robot! It's a human right.

So Biden is going to make the taxpayers pay off another $60 billion is student loans. Obviously he is buying votes with your money. But, but, the Supremes said it was unconstitutional! Where is the outrage and the court challenges? Where are all the law profs who wax poetically on the federal government going after Trump? But, Biden, and the Dirtycrats are setting a precedent. Can a president through executive order over rule and disregard the Supremes and the constitution? Yes they all shout in chorus as long as it's purpose is to buy votes! Remember that when Trump tries to deport illegal alien lawbreakers and the various courts and corrupt judges say he can't.

The original Biden plan was based on provisions of the Higher Education Relief Opportunities for Students Act allowing the government to waive or modify loan provisions in certain circumstances. The Supreme Court ruled that broad-based loan forgiveness was unconstitutional under the major questions doctrine. However, that decision didn't preclude more targeted loan forgiveness under other statutes, such as the Higher Education Act, which expressly grants the government the power to cancel student debt in some circumstances.
