Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Will Trump's Momentum Overcome Potential Fraud in November?
QUOTE: After all, this bears repeating: If you believe 2020 was stolen, what prevents them from stealing 2024? https://pjmedia.com/graysonbakich/2024/03/03/will-trumps-momentum-overcome-potential-fraud-in-november-n4926972 The Canadian/Trudeau problem can be boiled down to this: Canada elects it's prime minister in Parliament not by direct vote of the citizens. The Parliament has been taken over by immigrants. Trudeau gives the immigrant voters what they want so they keep him in office. Meanwhile the non-immigrant part of Canadian voters are split, as they always have been and because of this they negate each others vote and everything is determined by the immigrants who do not split their votes. Simple as that.
You want proof? Talk to any non-immigrant Canadian and they will be adamant that they either vote liberal or conservative and will do so without regard of how much it hurts Canada and themselves. They do this because their parents where liberal or conservative. They do this because they had a very disagreeable argument with a liberal or conservative and they need to vote to prove them wrong. They do this because of some single issue, like climate change that was used to divide the voters. They are set in their ways and by god the other side is wrong so they will never change even if it means the end of their country and their freedoms. Exactly like Americans in the U.S. but the difference is since the direct vote of the people choose the president the fascist party is forced to steal elections. The biggest fear of Americas corrupt politicians is that a totally honest and aware person is elected to major office and exposes them for what they are. In America THAT politician is Trump. In Canada it is Pierre Poilievre. In Canada, as in other countries that follow the Westminster system, the only people who vote directly for the prime minister are his or her constituents i.e., if the Member of Parliament (MP) they elect is the party leader, and the party wins the most seats, then he or she becomes prime minister. And by the way, the prime minister is head of government, not head of state like the US president.
Also, though the Conservatives and the Liberals are the two largest parties in Canada, we do have more than two. At the moment there are five parties represented in Parliament as well as a couple of independent MPs. This system has its ups and downs (what political system doesn't?) but it works and I am happy with it. For the record, Pierre Poilievre happens to be my MP, so it's entirely possible he could become the next prime minister. It has not been unknown for the leader of a Canadian political party to be defeated in his/her riding and then to have an elected member in a safe seat resign so a by-election can be called. PM Mackenzie King (Liberal) did this twice, and it has been known to happen provincially as well.
One notable exception was during the early days of the Reform Party when the first elected party member was Deborah Grey. There were calls for her to step down to let the Reform leader, Preston Manning, take the riding in a by-election. However, Mr Manning refused that option, instead naming Ms Grey as the deputy leader. I support DEI+G one hundred percent.
DEI+G Deport Every illegal AND Globalist In case you still have doubts a Latino organization just said the quiet part out loud. "An Arizona State University Latino student group has been suspended after it called for the deaths of “pilgrims,” “settlers,” and “Zionists.” So take the next step and ask yourself why the left wants open borders?
There's no small irony in a student group of Latinos - themselves the descendants of Spanish colonists in the Americas - branding anyone a "settler".
And were grateful for the American Calvary, who would solve the Apache\Comanche problem that the Mexican government couldn’t.
Talk about irony, about the time America was being "discovered" the Apache were taking a beating from other "newcomer" indigenous people up North so they moved as a tribe to the Southwest and attacked the "newcomer" indigenous people who were living there, killing and enslaving them. The Apache's were colonists LOL!!! I don't think "indigenous" means what they think it does.
'CDC Says You Can Treat COVID Like Any Other Respiratory Virus, Ends Five-Day Isolation Suggestion'
Well, duh! I took a company-paid five-day vacation a few years ago after being around my niece, who later tested positive for it. I never came down with it, and we were, of course, both fine. Oh well, it was nice to catch up on some bucket-list hikes and some movies I've been meaning to see. ("The Godfather" is vastly overrated - come at me.) QUOTE: CDC Says You Can Treat COVID Like Any Other Respiratory Virus, Ends Five-Day Isolation Suggestion The human immune system is a complex of different reactions. If you have been previously infected (or vaccinated), you will have antibodies to that pathogen. If you are re-exposed to the pathogen, the antibodies will prevent infection. However, antibodies are a static defense, so as the virus mutates, antibodies lose their effectiveness. You will also develop immunulogical memory in B cells and T cells. When re-exposed to the pathogen, your memory cells will produce antibodies at a much higher rate. This process takes time though, so you may acquire the disease, but most people will quickly clear the infection when compared to naïve infection. When COVID struck, it was a novel coronavirus. That means the human immune system had no experience with the virus, so there was no memory of exposure. The defense had to be built from scratch, which takes time. That allowed the disease to cause serious damage to the infected person, sometimes resulting in hospitalization or death. More than a million Americas died during the pandemic. That’s just not a common cold or seasonal flu. What has changed is that nearly everyone has had previous exposure, either through vaccination or natural infection, so there is much less danger. At this point, for most people, COVID can be treated like a case of the flu. STFU and take your ChatGPT bullshit with you and go away.
I use to wonder about the ChatGPT remark, then I started to read the bs that was coming from Gemini. Zach sounds remarkably similar.

You're right about it being weird and annoying. But it isn't third person. It's first-person plural.

"... the endless diabolical sadness that is pants?"
Jeez, how lame can you get? Levis, Kuhls, 511s come in pretty much every size and fit you need; once she saw the fit, my wife went to actionwear like I had. And for dress-up, your tailor will fit your slacks to a T. "Preparing Canada’s Future as North Korea"
That brief item was rather melodramatic and silly. Our prime minister and his party can be disposed of at any time by an election or a successful vote of non-confidence. Hardly very North Korean. Hmmm. Did you follow the link to the original article? The original article, “melodramatic and silly” was written by a Canadian, David Solway a poet, songwriter, and essayist - from his bio at the end of the page. The article was talking about the rather disturbing C-367 and C-63 bills, which makes thought, crimes.
I’m sure that the US democrats in Congress are drafting similar legislation. Authoritarianism is a Leftist trademark. The problem is Canada doesn't have a constitution that protects the rights of citizens and protects them from their government. JJM doesn't want to hear a bad word spoken about his country and I don't blame him but at some point you must acknowledge that truth is truth even if it comes from someone who you think has no business telling you the truth.
Imagine that you go to jail for praying in public (England). Or go to jail for posting that you think people who change genders are mentally (most of Europe). This is coming (some of it already here) to Canada. And to some extent the U.S. too but that damned constitution keeps getting in the way. Those who fail to learn history are doomed to repeat it. They want to take your guns because they intend to do something that will make you want to shoot them. Chaos At Georgia Six Flags As Violent Mob Invades - Ends In Shootout With Police
The likelihood of the teen being a minority is high, and the media's focus may be in preparation for an attempt to provoke a BLM-like response in the near future. https://www.zerohedge.com/political/chaos-georgia-six-flags-violent-mob-invades-ends-shootout-police The first Dune was tedious (good word, BD) enough. No way will I sit through the second part.
As with most books turned into movies, a lot is left out ;-(
Having read the Dune books, the movie gives an added perspective to Herberts vision. Personally, the book was a bit too mystical... but I would still recommend reading it. The Lynch version, the SY FY channel mini series, and the current version each have parts that are very good, but also deep flaws. No movie can or should be exactly like the book, but the current version seems to miss the point of the book. The movie is a freedom fighter story, which is part of the book. But it doesn't show why spice is so important. Without spice, no one would want to control Dune and the Fremen wouldn't need to fight for their freedom.
It's also too long. We watched Giant on Friday night, and Dune 2 on Saturday morning. That's a lot of movie. I've decided that directors, like all artists, perform better under the contraints of a patron. A good director can tell more in two hours than three and a half. QUOTE: 'Very Bizarre': Scientists Expose Major Problems With Climate Change Data The simplest counter is that temperature anomalies derived from satellite observations are consistent with temperature anomalies derived from the surface station record. The satellite observations are made by different scientists using different methods and are not subject to urban heat effects or supposed problems with homogenization of the surface station record. For those not familiar with Zach/communist/leftist double speak what he means is "no matter what you say that contradicts my ideology I will blithely lie, misinform and make up shit endlessly until you get tired of disagreeing with me. At which time my communist masters will reward me through PayPal for helping them destroy the last remaining democracy powerful enough to prevent China from ruling the world.
JustMe: misinform and make up shit
Are you saying the satellite data is misrepresented? If not, then why is there a reasonable fit between the satellite observations and the surface station record? What we find is that you completely ignore any data that conflicts with your narratives from the climate cult. Reread the paragraph titled "This is very bizarre, he said". Note that they do not calculate the same adjustments every time. They found that just 17 percent of NOAA's ADJUSTMENTS were consistently applied and less than 20 percent of NOAA's adjustments were clearly associated with a documented change to station observations.
What we are left with is that NOAA is addressing the issue...basically they were caught manipulating the data and need to find an excuse for the manipulation. Adjusting their way to AGW err.. climate change. And once again...do you need to see the graphs that show there is no correlation between CO2 and temperature. They are readily available. "Are you saying the satellite data is misrepresented?"
Uh, yeah... https://dailycaller.com/2024/03/04/2-million-scientific-paper-mysterious-wipe-web/ Again STFU and go away. You're annoying the adults. You constantly insist on using excruciatingly precise language and make assumptions about the position of someone like me (who is agnostic about CAGW) as well as insisting on responding to every single mention of certain subjects. I recognize those traits. They are the acts of a fanatic who is carrying around a lot of insecurity about the veracity of their beliefs.
That behavior is ultimately futile, and only harms your cause. In part because a lot of the readers recognize the insecurity intuitively. FYI, the constant use of the plural to refer to yourself isn't just weird and off putting, it is actually a marker for a person haveing psychological problems. James: You constantly insist on using excruciatingly precise language
None of that addresses the actual topic or the counter-argument—which is directly relevant and easy to understand. (It's quite all right if you are not interested in the topic.) "James: You constantly insist on using excruciatingly precise language"
It's all just rhetoric. You might as well argue with the wind. When Ideology Turns Pathological
QUOTE: To what extent does ideology, strictly defined, result in a loss of liberty and economic opportunity within all collectivisms, to include non-Marxian socialism, fascism, progressivism, and even social democracy? Collectivists abandon the principle of nonaggression while justifying governmental violence based upon the false idea that the ends justify the means. As more and more power is concentrated in the United States federal government, the coercive nature of government is increasingly being used to enforce politically defined goals such as diversity, equity, and inclusion; gender identification “rights”; and questionable climate control strategies. Universities, once the bastions of free speech, now tolerate violence against those who oppose programs promoted by the collectivists. The key difference between the strict definition of ideology, which describes collectivists’ beliefs, and the broad definition, which describes the beliefs of the classical liberal, is the coercive social engineering conducted through the government. https://mises.org/mises-wire/when-ideology-turns-pathological The university has become nothing more than an open air sanitarium that houses students paying for their own brainwashing. They seem prepared for a career at most any coffee shop when they finally graduate... and dump their tuition costs on the taxpayer.
