We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
I stuck my phone on the porch early this morning, and what it heard in 30 mins is below the fold -
Northern Cardinal American Robin White-Throated Sparrow Hairy Woodpecker Song Sparrow Carolina Wren American Goldfinch Blue Jay Canada Goose Tufted Titmouse Golden-Crowned Kinglet Common Grackle Mourning Dove Downy Woodpecker Cedar Waxwing House Finch
That is really neat. The cardinal is my favorite bird. Unfortunately, they don’t live in the Denver area. Though, Wild Birds Unlimited did have a picture of one that someone took at Chatfield State Park. That was quite a few years ago.
I confused your Merlin App with my Merlin monitoring device. Monitors my heart rate continuously. Sits on my dresser and scans my pacemaker. Going to have to do some research on your app. Mahalo
Love Merlin
When I travel, I’ll turn it on while having an evening beverage. It tells me all the different birds in the area. Use it while on walks.
It’s a blast to play some bird calls form Merlin. Cardinals are aggressive sand territorial. They will come right onto the deck to find the strange bird.
Mrs. Mudbug also has a Merlin app and she loves it too!
She thought it failed her when she kept hearing a squawking sound and Merlin couldn’t identify the bird that was making the sound. It turned out that the squawking was from an Amazon truck that was backing up!
She recognized all your birds as the same ones that pass through our yard in NC. We’ll be anxiously awaiting them later this spring!
