Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

I think most would agree that the E, Jean Carroll story is a trumped up lie backed by a billionaire who hates Trump and tried in a venue where potential jurors are educationally deprived and biased and overseen by a judge from a corrupt court system. The judge is guilty of misconduct and has contributed to the trashing of our once just courts. The lawyer's actions give lawyers a bad name everywhere and considering the present state of the legal profession it was a challenge to bring it down lower than it already is. This is what the left wants; a legal system where opponents can be bankrupted and jailed by a corrupt court system. These kinds of things are the tragic precursors to a full tyrannical government where you can be jailed and disappeared for disagreeing with your leaders.
I agree completely with you above statement. I know it is how the Democrats operate, but Trump did so much for the city of New York. When he doesn't follow their evil ways they turn on him immediately and won't stop until they get rid of him. The city and it's people deserve what is happening to them now.
Adding to JC’s and OneGuy’s posts, Carroll and her lawyer helped change the law in NYC to in effect extend the statute of limitations in order to get Trump.
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2024/01/new-york-changed-laws-enable-crackpot-e-jean/ I’m not a Trump guy, but Victor Davis Hanson has the details on what a farce those lawsuits were (can see it on Twitter or Fox News). Democrats bleat about protecting democracy doing everything they can to obliterate it; it’s always about projection with the left. And it’s getting to the point I don’t know how you seek redress short of violence.
"Israel's War on Hamas is the Least Deadly War in the Region. So why does the media describe it as 'among the deadliest… in history'?"
I don't have to even read that link to answer that one. The administrative state that is in place has become a dictatorship. To the gallows with them.
And then put their heads on pikes around the Beltway.
Pour encourager les autres! Pessimism. I do try to be an optimist. I think the Lord requires it. I believe He is in control, but gives His creation enough rope to do great damage to itself. Is it a fine line between discouragement and pessimism?
Mr. Boudry says that you should get your news locally. Has he never watched the local news? I’ll bet it was a small news marketer that came up with, “if it bleeds it leads.” No matter the local station, the first five minutes of the ‘news’ is the daily body count. Unless they can make ‘news’ about the weather. During the last cold snap, which was below zero for a grand total of three days, one of the local stations actually had a counter running on how long we had been below freezing. Get a grip. Mr. Boudry claims that: “ it’s not as if there has ever been a secret boardroom meeting in which the editors-in-chief of all the newspapers and TV stations agreed on a sinister scheme to make us all feel gloomier.” Really? Rush use to document the various journalist, from across a large swath of the media, saying the exact same words, while ‘reporting’ a news story. Rest assured that the ‘news’ media are entirely on the same page. Just a few days ago, a poll of the ‘elites’ (what a terrible term for these people, evil doers, to borrow from W, is what they are) show that they have a very favorable opinion of journalists; 84% said yes. Compared to the rest of us at 45% favorable. Mr. Broudry is correct, the news media can be a great source to feed your pessimism. I don’t believe this was always so. Some time ago, when more and more journalists, graduates of ‘elite’ institutions, decided that they where going to shape society instead of report news, reporting turned to gaslighting and took a decided Left turn. Anyway, there is plenty to be optimistic about. I have a nice home with heat and fresh water. Three squares a day. I live much better than just about anyone from the not so distant past. So, 'nil carborundum illegitimi’ Don’t let the bastards grind you down. They don't seem to ever report on the houses that don't burn down!
QUOTE: The Seven Laws of Pessimism The article makes a number of good points: Progress is incremental, destruction often in an instant. Free societies have more complaints, because you can't complain in police states. QUOTE: 6. The Law of Self-Effacing Solutions: Once a solution has been achieved, people forget about the original problem (and only see further problems). Progress is most often made stepwise (and usually two steps forward, then one step back). Incremental progress depends on finding ways to improve on what has already been accomplished. People, in their zeal, sometimes forget or minimize the importance of past accomplishments, or why compromise is often a significant factor in progress, and don't always understand why gradual change is more often better than revolution. This is called conservatism. Starting 25 years ago, female faculty started teaching female students that they were to go out in the world and "Become agents of change". What that really meant was this: go out there see how far you can get and be ready for the call. You know the call from your local "leadership" to commit some little dirty trick on any male or female that was standing up for integrity, or fair play. Knock on their doors and run, dial their phones and hang up, ruing their performance at work, you know--dirty little trick by dirty little girls eager to become "leaders"--Agents of Change! They are out there now--most are single moms teaching K-12 somewhere, or working for city offices or in DC working in the system. Those little "agents of change" are waiting for their turn to show their mistress how worthy they are of a better position.
RE: Seven laws of pessimism
It's always amusing to read an author try to posit secular answers to spiritual problems. This line intrigues me: "But it’s important that people take that rational leap of faith because progress is not inevitable." As skeptic of religious thought, the author nonetheless can tolerate a gigantic leap of faith when it coincides with his beliefs. |
