We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

One has to be careful linking articles from disreputable media sources. The 'gold bar' story also appeared in the Gateway Pundit, and buried halfway down is the lede: The bars were indeed stolen at some time in the past. And then they were recovered by the police and returned to the owner.

That tidbit is luridly painted to connect a corrupt Senator to stolen property, but the real issue is that he has gold bars that are registered to a shady political figure and this fact carries all the appearance of bribery and graft. That is the important part - he has accepted gold bars under the table in exchange for..... what? Shouldn't that be the point of the story?

Funny how a {D} Senator can have over a half-million in unexplained cash lying around the house in various stashes, but this causes no excitement, even curiosity, in the ranks of his fellow Senators. But both {R} and {D}'s are tripping over their feet to expel a 'Bad John' Representative for campaign donation irregularities that add up to chump change by comparison. It almost makes you question their sincerity, and their committments.

What looks like chaos all over the world is being controlled to destroy the U.S. The Ukraine war has been used to deplete our reserves of ammunition. The Middle East war is being used to set up our forces for a major strike. Likely disable a carrier or worse. Oil price allowed our imbecilic president to draw down our oil reserves while simultaneously stopping our efforts to use our own oil deposits making us dependent on shipping oil from the ME. Our Southern border is wide open and tens of thousands of spies and military are walking into our country. Our president is known to have taken bribes from China and may be doing their bidding. We are being set up for a fall. China intends to invade Taiwan and their best chance of getting away with it is before the next president is elected. All the pieces of the puzzle are coming together and our leaders are clueless.

The strategic oil reserve is being replenished at a lower price, after having been drawn down in response to the Russo-Ukraine War. U.S. oil production is at an all-time high.

Trump is running for president of the United States, the most powerful office in the land. He has a responsibility to be clear about his views, especially on such an important matter. He could have clarified his statement, but he hasn't even issued his usual mealy-mouthed response. Many people are already very unsettled by his many previous statements perceived as racist or authoritarian, including his threats of political prosecutions, calling the media he called enemies of the people, even the execution of a retired military general.

To say he will be a dictator for a day is to say he will be dictator.
