Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

The Post article is disinformation. The PA and especially Abbas have been rejected by the Palestinians, because they are compradors. Hamas won the only election held so far.
As to Ukraine, that war is not stalemated. The Ukronazis are undergoing a slow defeat. The Ukrainian casualties are so great, that Ukraine is drafting pregnant women. I'm not clear, so maybe you can explain. Are nazi's good or bad? You seem to dislike the ones in Ukraine, but are very fond of the ones in Gaza. Maybe the fact that the ones in Gaza are attacking Jews and the ones in the Ukraine are attacking Russians explains it.
"Common sense all went out in Massachusetts"
The article will not say, cannot say what the genesis of this problem is. A good reporter would have given you the names of these elected officials who voted for this foolishness. The names would have been a giveaway, which of course is why they don't provide them. Most of these people who vote to coverup or change America's history are not Americans. They live here, in most cases they have acquired citizenship here, but in their heart they are still citizens of their home country and their allegiance is not to America but rather to a foreign country and a foreign ideology. Like Ilhan Omar or Rashida Tlaib they are anti-American and are here to disrupt and destroy not to embrace America. Immigration is the problem. Legal and illegal immigration is destroying America and Europe. "...Financial therapist reveals how sadness and anger cause us to splurge on new purchases..."
But, but, but the Biden miracle economy, with the highest inflation rate since the 70's, has made everything more expensive - making me sad and angry ! re Ukraine Is Stalemated again
Russia - Ukraine War News Updates -- November 12, 2023 https://warnewsupdates.blogspot.com/2023/11/russia-ukraine-war-news-updates_12.html These are youtube videos at the link. These videos describe the general situation on the front lines. Perhaps it is a stalemate but it is looking pretty grim for Ukraine. Or perhaps it's all fake news? Suppose Ukraine loses. One wonders how our ruling masters will spin their support for the war and where they will point fingers for the blame? Free Speech In Britain:
Hathaway has been blacklisted, sued, and arrested. The actor who played Sergeant Hathaway in the "Lewis " series has been fighting for free speech and against the wokies for several years now. You can read here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laurence_Fox A question of the place of Islam in western culture... Islam has no understanding of 'free will' and is constructed in a way that makes that understanding an impossibility. There is NO place for Islam in western culture as it cannot understand that western Christian culture requires free will. Belief cannot be mandated as it has no meaning as a mandate. It is why the Joebama regime lives on mandates and has weaponized every institution to deliver results. The weaponized institutions are the substitute for Islam from the "I will stand with Islam" administration.
Why you overspend... My stuff is paid for. It is the government that has an overspending problem. My only future purchase of any degree is a small solar power system as grid power will become ever more unreliable due to government institutional interference with the real world which they seem to dislike.
Most of the rest of the headlines deal with academia and media unable to escape their self-made cultural shithole. I do not feel their pain. Need more sandpaper and kerosene to change their ways. Why do I overspend? 'Cause sometimes I really, really crave asparagus/salami/avocado/bacon/etc and it's not on sale!
If I didn't have it already planted I would overspend on asparagus as well. It does well enough here in the spring but the summers pretty well end it's growth. Planted another couple dozen this spring. Trying to get all the perennials established including berries.
A third-party run is a risk we can’t afford Opinion by James E. Clyburn
QUOTE: Jill Stein and Gary Johnson ran third-party campaigns in 2016 that arguably siphoned off enough votes to cost Hillary Clinton the states of Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania — and with them the presidency. I don’t remember all that they promised, but I know what they helped deliver: the disastrous presidency of Donald Trump. I have served in Congress under five presidents and have known them all. President Joe Biden is among the finest. He has guided this nation with extraordinary skill, deep foresight and abiding decency. His fatherly demeanor and compassionate tone do not engender the attractive headlines and quotable sound bite for which many seem to yearn. But his policies and practices are yielding spectacular results for individuals, their families, and communities. . . . History foretells that a third-party candidacy would only serve as a spoiler and, I maintain, could fundamentally endanger our fragile democracy. That is a risk we simply cannot afford to take. https://lite.cnn.com/2023/11/11/opinions/third-party-run-is-a-risk-we-cant-afford-clyburn/index.html Anyone know how deep the BS is here? Does he really believe this? If only Biden could run for re-election unopposed, THAT would secure our 'fragile" democracy, I'm sure. The risk to the republic is the national debt... I think it is too late to escape the debt chaos.
Mr. Clyburn my be personally benefiting from Biden's disastrous presidency. Perhaps his friends and community is too. But America certainly is not.
The debt is a serious risk. It can't be fixed. It will cripple the economy and create an economic disaster that could last for decades. We cannot pay down or pay off the debt. We cannot afford the interest on the debt. The debt will color every financial decision the federal government makes including increasing taxes. They will cut services, it will be used for an excuse to cut SS and Medicare (but strangely not welfare and Medicaid). It will slowly crush us. It will require/drive inflation and a forever recession. It will destroy us. Meanwhile we will continue to give money to Ukraine and dozens of other countries. Stop worrying about the National Debt.
Inflations to rid a country / government of it's debts have been engineered worldwide. Think Weimar Germany's hyperinflation. When Macy's puts dress shirts on Sale for only $5 million, what's a few Hundred Trillion in national debt? Oh, you thought your retirement savings were sufficient? Sorry about that Boomer. Not really worried about the national debt but preparing for the collapse of debt by government AND private/corporate parties. Junk bonds, credit card, student loans... the debt is not sustainable for any of the generations. That will collapse the job market. There will be Joad families everywhere. Got food? Got housing?
I was poised to accept Robert Jay Lifton's analysis of totalism, as that seems to explain why people get so caught up in political or religious movements. But then it all degenerated into Trump bashing which made the rest of his argument suspect. Couldn't he have explained his thesis without jumping into politics?
