Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Another Trump associate defendant in Georgia has taken a plea deal. In her case it was literally impossible that any honest court could have found her guilty. Her charge; being a lawyer defending Trumps case over election fraud in Georgia. Zero chance a lawyer could be found guilty while doing only what lawyers are intended to do if the court was not corrupt. The problem is that the court IS corrupt and the DA is corrupt. You would think this would be a terrible embarrassment to all lawyers and judges everywhere. But not a single sound from any of them. Understand that with her plea deal she cannot speak the truth. She will get 5 years probation for the express purpose of preventing her from uttering the truth in those five years of face immediate imprisonment. She too the deal to avoid paying millions to defend herself knowing it would be fruitless and she would still get a heavy sentence. So by admitting her "guilt" she must play the part OR go straight to jail as soon as she denies it. THAT is the definition of prosecutorial misconduct. THAT is lawfare. THAT is corruption in our legal system. THAT is also what they did to every J6 defendant.
OneGuy: In her case it was literally impossible that any honest court could have found her guilty.
She lied. About legal matters. Actually she didn't. She lied about being guilty because that is what the prosecutor forced her to do. This is prosecutorial misconduct and if our courts don't do something to stop it soon the entire justice system will be corrupted. Forcing an innocent person to cop a plea or face bankruptcy and jail time is disgraceful. YOU condoning it is disgraceful.
OneGuy: She lied about being guilty because that is what the prosecutor forced her to do.
She was no more forced than any other defendant taking a plea deal. OneGuy: This is prosecutorial misconduct Negotiating plea deals is part of the legal system. It's deeply rooted in the common law. How did you think it worked? OneGuy: Forcing an innocent person to cop a plea or face bankruptcy and jail time is disgraceful. It's funny, well ironic anyway—after generations of poor and minority people complaining about how unbalanced the American justice system is, to watch the "law and order" right suddenly see the light when well-connected, well-to-do white people are caught in the jaws of the legal system. how the right suddenly sees the light when the well connected, well to do white..... You mean those like Hunter Biden?
Like Powell, Ellis knuckled under to the prosecution. She pled what she did to avoid a long and lengthy courtroom ordeal which in all likelihood would have bankrupted her.
That's what Lawfare is. Use of the unlimited power of the public purse to personally bankrupt regular citizens. Threaten them with prison too. “Justice” run amok.

Here is how lawfare is performed. A narrative is created and it doesn't matter about the 'facts' of the matter.

Normie academics pretending to be shocked...
The university spends an unordinary amount of time pretending and addressing pretenses. I have little sympathy for students who actually dole out tuition fees for such claptrap. Buyer beware. Re: Airport hacks.
#5 was bring sanitizer and wet wipes. "You may not be able to shower straight away, but at least you can wipe yourself down." I don't honestly know if I'm just stupid or what. Have you ever "wiped yourself down" with a wet wipe??? I have no clue what you wipe. Your butt? Your pits? What? I'm 80 years old and have never used a wet wipe. I have changed a diaper but I think that was before wet wipes and we used wash cloths back then. Who actually uses wet wipes? I mean seriously can anyone help me here? Who uses them and how? I would ask the same question about "body wash". What is it? The motels have it available in the shower but what so you do with it and why wouldn't soap work? These things seem bizarre to me. Yeah and I am so past hand sanitizer. Done! Don't even want to hear and read the words again. About the only thing wet wipes are good for is cleaning your fingers after eating BBQ ribs. As a Field Expedient, of course; napkins are usually up to the job.
I keep a small stash of them in the car door pocket. If an ice cream cone is melting faster than I can keep up with, then I don't wind up with a sticky hand or sticky steering wheel.
Taking public transport - especially during rush hour - is usually good for triggering the hidden germophobe in me. Always happy to wash my hands when at the destination.
And I get that. I wash my hands after petting a dog or working outside but that seems normal, most people do. I also wash my hands after eating finger foods I guess that would be a legitimate use of a wet wipe too. But it was the "wipe your self down" that left me with a mental image that makes no sense.
Re: Serfdom.
I used to passionately believe that every human yearns to be free. The Covid interruption slapped that silly notion completely out of my head. People yearn for security. They will happily give up every single liberty for a sense of security. Heck, they’ll happily give up half their paycheck. The airport security theater should have been my first clue. I think strong majorities are happy to be serfs. Especially those serfs of the Left, they have the illusion that they are not. It’s why so many happily jump aboard the latest bandwagon thing. The rest of the mob is right there with them, shouting at those not on the wagon. They are absolutely clueless as to where that wagon goes. Somewhere Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs fits in here. Physiological is at the bottom, Safety is next, then Social, Esteem and lastly self-actualization. Safety may enough for most because they don't have to think anymore. Currently the few who want more are grifters instead of founding fathers.
I'm retired from the aviation industry but after the unconstitutional TSA mandate I have refused to use any of the commercial airlines. Big brother government is just too gay and oppressive.
Re: Universities. If professor have to start teaching established principles instead of vanity courses, they will be very unhappy.
In any case, what most of college is, outside of Physics, Engineering, Computer Science (PECS) can be done better by AI. Colleges will change or die. Sadly, universities take 40-50 years to change but the world is changing faster than that again so they'll be left behind as they were at the start of the Industrial Revolution which came out of the workshops of England, not the 'elite' universities. QUOTE: But, I want to go to the other end of the spectrum, which is intellectual services. It used to be, if you wave your Bachelor's degree, you're going to get a great job. When I graduated from college, it was a sure thing that you'd get a great job. And, in college, you'd basically learned artificial intelligence, meaning, you carried out the instructions that the faculty member gave you. You memorized the lectures, and you were tested on your memory in the exams. That's what a computer does. It basically memorizes what you tell it to do. --Econtalk podcast with economist Ed Leamer, April 13, 2020 But now, with a computer doing all those mundane, repetitive intellectual tasks, if you're expecting to do well in the job market, you have to bring, you have to have real education. Real education means to solve problems that the faculty who teach don't really know how to solve. And that takes talent as well as education. So, my view is we've got to change education from a kind of a big Xerox machine where the lectures are memorized and then tested, into one which is more experienced-based to prepare a workforce for the reality of the 20th century. You've got to recognize that just because you had an experience with, say, issues in accounting, doesn't mean that you have the ability to innovate and take care of customers who have problems that cannot be coded. Education is a private matter between the person and the world of knowledge and experience, and has little to do with school or college. Lillian Smith Education is a private matter.....
John Taylor Gatto would approve. And a short piece from a homeschooling blog. https://smarthomeschooler.com/blog/2021/5/28/gatto-six-purposes-schooling It is public school grooming since at least the Civil War/War between the States. As I told my undergrads back in the day: don't let classes get in the way of your education.
Of course the natural state of humanity is serfdom, taking orders absolves one of responsibility for one's condition. It's always somebody else's fault that you're not rich and famous and attractive to the opposite sex. As someone once said, "Life in the state of nature is solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short." Or as Thomas Sowell has so frequently commented, asking why we have war and poverty and disease has it backwards - the question is why some people enjoy peace and prosperity and good health. That's the unnatural state of things.
FWIW:
Col. Douglas Macgregror reveals information that no one is reporting. US and Israeli special forces suffered "heavy losses" during Gaza excursion this weekend. https://twitter.com/CitizenFreePres/status/1716836598103330958 Absolutely nothing of this in Israeli media - not even rumor rags like Rotter.net
I will eat my beanie if there are any significant numbers of America soldiers in Gaza - or if they suffered any losses. Israelis have no intention of letting US forces near Gaza, because they have no intention of bowing to overseas pressure for ceasefire. Where did he get 80,000 fighters from? His hat. The air. Israel has mobilized 200-300,000 soldiers. More reservists are reporting than were called up - it's at 120%. "Where did he get 80,000 fighters from?
His hat. The air." You're being too kind. I thought he must have picked that number from a particular part of his anatomy. Normie academics put their pajamas on in the safe space that was freshly supplied with crayons and coloring books.
They are so terribly oppressed at Marxist EDU black holes (wayciss!) of conformity uber alles. Any original thought would have them calling up Sigmund Headshrinker for some wailing and gnashing, he'll pretend to care for a fee. Remember when the Founders said do not favor any nation over another and do not get involved in treaties and pacts? Good times. Surly belligerent rabble or box car, choose wisely. If you read or watch videos of what the terrorists did to these innocent people you can only conclude that they are sub-human underserving to even live in a jungle never mind a civil society. These is simply no excuse for this kind of thing. As difficult as it is to watch or read about it should be distributed by the MSM. It should be in our face everyday. Especially for those who want a cease fire or believe that Israel is wrong to want to put a stop to this ongoing terrorist war. If you can see and hear what they did and still think Israel is wrong or that the Palestinians who support this are right than there is something wrong with you.
Anon: If you read or watch videos of what the terrorists did to these innocent people you can only conclude that they are sub-human underserving to even live in a jungle never mind a civil society.
Hate to break the news to you, but they are very much human. However, they do deserve to be brought to justice (killed). Israel has every right to self-defense. However, it's important to keep in mind that Hamas is trying to get Israel to overreact, much as the United States did after 9-11, bleeding lives, treasure, and political support. What they did was grotesque, fiendish, disgusting, inhuman would embarrass animals. It is obscene that you excuse it. F U!
Anon: It is obscene that you excuse it.
In no way did we excuse terrorists. We noted that such savagery is often seen in the human species. History shows what humans will do to one another, while modern studies have shown that most people are capable of such horrors. In other words, they are not “sub-human,” but very human indeed. Sorry if this knowledge is such a shock to you. Regardless, those who perpetrated the atrocities need to be held to account, in the interests of justice, and as a deterrence to others. |
