Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

"Why Most Doctors Choose Employment "
What a good little drone. The doctors I know personally are miserable, over-worked, under-staffed, and always under pressure from second-guessing administrators. 'Free to practice medicine'? What, on your laptop? Obama care has ruined the patient care of medical practitioners. The reason doctors have gravitated toward employment is more because of the demands placed upon them by the Affordable Care Act, which directs their attention to endless form-filling and questionable data collection rather than actual patient care. Form-filling: What does that bring to mind? Administrators, that's what. And what has happened to the cost of health care? Paying for administrators. And what has happened to the overall quality of health care? Paying for administrators, instead. Appointments booked 3-6 months out. Nurse Practitioners, rather than Doctors. How many people out there didn't get to 'keep their doctors'? Government care is like government schools. The more government involvement the lousier the service. The government insists on being the middleman client, you are not the client. And the price for crappy service goes up.

QUOTE: the Native American Guardian Association (“NAGA”) is threatening a boycott powered by Native Americans angry that they’ve been erased in true Orwellian fashion. How true! Unfortunately for them, their numbers are so small that I doubt many would notice a boycott. I still buy Land o Lakes butter, but I miss the Indian maiden every time I see the box. What the Native American Guardian Association needs to figure out is how to make it advantageous for the virtue signalers to return the Redskins name to the football team or the Indians to the baseball team. I'm sure the Indians and Redskins have 'cheap seat' venues to try to attract new viewers. The various tribes could organize bus brigades to the stadium and come dressed in tribal wear while sitting as groups. They can't ignore you if you display an
'Indian' or 'Redskin' placard. Made for TV. re Fake meat update
Fake meat is running up against the same consumer resistance as the EV cars. They are marketing a product few want. EV Owners Suddenly Realize They’re Being Conned They're suing in California, of all places, because the range claims aren't remotely close to reality. https://issuesinsights.com/2023/08/08/why-is-tesla-the-only-ev-maker-getting-sued-for-false-advertising/ Unearthed Jan 6 Cop VIDEO: ‘Going Undercover as Antifa in the Crowd’.
QUOTE: Footage shot by a police officer at the infamous January 6th riot at the U.S. Capitol reveals him telling uniformed colleagues “we go undercover as Antifa in the crowd,” adding to the mountain of evidence that there was significant law enforcement presence among the protesters, as well as provocations from government operatives. . . . “It sounds like a number of the intelligence agencies had resources in the crowd,” Sund asserts, to which Carlson responds: “In the parlance of the internet, it was crawling with feds?” “There was a fair amount of law enforcement in the crowd,” Sund replied. https://thenationalpulse.com/2023/08/08/unearthed-jan-6-cop-video-going-undercover-as-antifa-in-the-crowd/ re So, how are you all surviving the Hollywood strike?
It's already been going on for 100 days!? Who knew? If they NEVER settle, it's all the same to me. My media diet has changed, a bit for the better, a bit for the worse: I'm catching up on all those creepy Scandinavian police dramas I'd been postponing (good), but Jeopardy! has gone into indefinite reruns, with a promise of recycled questions selected by robots in the fall (not so good). Meanwhile, I shall KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON.
"Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey has declared a state of emergency over the illegal immigration crisis. Massachusetts has been considered a “sanctuary state” since 2017 when its court ruled that law enforcement officers could not arrest a person suspected of being in the country illegally unless criminal charges apply."
Immigration isn't a 'problem' when they're flooding across the southern borders, but it's a 'crisis' and 'emergency' when they finally start reaching your state. Similar to: It's a 'recession' when your neighbor loses his job, but a 'depression' when you lose yours. DeSantis and Abbott have it right when they charter the buses and planes. Personalize it. "Critical race theory can be applied to the teaching of chemistry"
You will notice that all these abstractions have agency and are doing all these things. It's amazing. Climate crisis is about lockdowns and 15 minute bugs and pods Bidenville shanties.
No one said that the Fundamental Transformation would be an improvement. At least the tweets aren't mean and Chicago Jesus will have a little bit left to destroy under Big Mike and term four. Counter revolution with the Grand Old Politburo Washington Generals? Only if someone like Trump drags them kicking and screaming to victory. EV Zil Trabants are also part of the power and control plan for the egalitarian equality of results for all workers utopia. What do you mean the range isn't accurate? You can't get it done in 800 meters and 15 minutes, comrade? Forward! Si se puede! The New York Times is hedging its bets on whether or not Trump may actually get re-elected and worrying about him taking "what's good for the goose is good for the gander" to heart. Remember the "Lock Her Up!" chants and how fast Trump shut them down once he won the election? Think he's learned anything by his graciousness, that maybe he'll be a wee bit more vindictive this time around?

I wonder if the court will allow Trump's lawyers to submit this as evidence. re WIND ENERGY: A DOOMED INDUSTRY
Perhaps. OTOH, Intercity rail passenger service was doomed and Government stepped in and saved it in 1971. Thanks to lavish subsidies it is still out there operating under the banner of Amtrak 52 years later. There is reason to think that windmill power will reap similar benefits to keep the charade alive that windmills are important and worthwhile. They could very possibly be seen spinning away 50 years from now, assuming the money doesn't run out. Hawaii is burning. It appears to be a case of multiple arsonists in multiple locations starting fires during a wind storm. The intent seems to be to destroy as much as possible. The fire department and police are overwhelmed and it may have to burn itself out or wait until the wind stops.
re "Structural Racism in Chemistry": I'm not a real chemist, but I've noticed when chemists describe an organic reaction that's gone bad (if it hasn't exploded) almost always results in "brown gunk" in the bottom of the reaction vessel. It's never "white gunk". If that isn't racial bias in chemistry, I don't know what is.
In case there's any doubt, I'll just add that the brown gunk is usually very resistant to being removed with the usual solvents and cleaning solutions, suggesting that it doesn't want to assimilate. While we're on the subject, my brother reported that he made "12-bean soup" once, and found that only the black beans retained their shape and integrity when it was ready. Make of that what you will, but to me it means that structural racism exists even among legumes. "Great Northern" beans were never great, and won't be until no beans are left behind! |
