Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

"Musical theater genius"

Two of Aaron Burr's homes (downtown and uptown), and Hamilton's farmhouse, are still be be seen on Manhattan. 


That's Mrs. BD's brief review after seeing "Hamilton" on Broadway last night. She's well-informed about such things. Snippets:

I'm not sure, but I've always been under the impression this play was designed to offend. I could be wrong. I'm open to being enlightened.

Not at all. Dramatic and entertaining.

And, since it's Broadway, stunning performances. Place was packed as usual.

I don't recommend it for the hearing-impaired. All I saw was a bunch of mediocre black actors playing dress-up, pretending to be white folks, and spouting rap jibber jabber.

How many "songs" are there in a musical?
And how many are genuine hits that can be performed out of context?

I'll stick with the book.

Musicals fall into the very large category of things that I just don't understand about people. Rap musicals even more so.

My wife loved Hamilton.

As I understand the rationale, blacks cam play white roles because it is not about skin color, it is about how well the actor can play the character.

Fair enough.

I'll see Hamilton when a white actor can play Martin Luther King.

It's just entertainment. I didn't see a black face in the audience. All tourists.

Makes me happy to see NYC full of tourists.
