Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

I'm pretty sure a number of the Canadian forest fires are arson on the part of the eco-freaks determined to end humanity by any means necessary.
I'm inclined to concur with Jerry. Probably the same diatribe that scorched all those cows a few weeks ago.
Food for thought...

It has been the same since the last ice age and will continue until the next ice age. It is normal.
OneGuy: Earths weather patterns are cyclical and this causes floods and drought which in turn results in more obvious indicators like forest fires.
There are certainly cyclical patterns, but cycles don't explain record heat and drought. (With only cycles, we would expect the peak and troughs to be roughly the same values for each cycle. Instead, the peaks and troughs continue to rise.) Higher latitudes are more affected by global warming. The fire season is lasting longer, with spring beginning earlier and autumn coming later. High temperatures have smashed previous records in Canada. Jet streams are getting weaker due to the lower temperature differential between latitudes, which allows heat domes to build, setting the stage for fire. The forecast for Canada is for a hot, dry summer. " The Truth About ‘Puberty Blockers’ - The FDA hasn’t approved them for gender dysphoria, and their effects are serious and permanent."
Years ago a young male family member was beginning to go into puberty too early. The docs prescribed puberty blockers and just about wrecked his life and mind. He was not trans but boy it did a number on the kid and his family. Prescribing these drugs so easily will probably damage a good number of these kids that are already confused. Matt Walsh: I Called Up a "Trans Healthcare" Provider and Purposely Flunked the Criteria for a "Trans" Diagnosis But They Gave Me a Prescription to Get My Testicles Cut Off Anyway... in 22 Minutes
What words can can adequately explain the evil of what these people are doing to children? It’s billed to insurance companies. That means that your premiums, or tax dollars go to support this. All money in the bank for these wicked ‘doctors’. It is interesting that the health officials are telling people that masks don't work to protect you from this wildfire pollution. LOL!
JustMe: It is interesting that the health officials are telling people that masks don't work to protect you from this wildfire pollution
According to the CDC, dust masks don't work well for smoke pollution, but N95 masks can reduce the hazard. However, the best protection is staying indoors and avoiding strenuous outdoor activity. QUOTE: ‘Most Damning’ About FBI: New Twitter Files Expose FBI-Ukraine Plot to Censor Users It's hardly "damning". The FBI forwarded a request from Ukraine. The FBI has every right to ask Twitter to determine whether specific users have violated Twitter's terms of service. You do too. Twitter considered the request and made an independent decision. Because policing the internet for potential bad think by a journalist is exactly what American Citizens want the FBI to be spending their time and energy on.
https://youtu.be/2W9fZIKN0pE In a sane America, the FBI would have NO right speaking to Twitter without some evidence of a violation of Federal law. Twitter's rules of service are NOT Federal law. Of course we no longer live in a sane America where our law enforcement organizations actually respect the spirit of the Constitution as opposed to looking for the barest shade of gray in the letter thereof.
Aggie: Because policing the internet for potential bad think by a journalist is exactly what American Citizens want the FBI to be spending their time and energy on.
There's a war on. Ukrainian intelligence sent the list to the FBI claiming the users were disseminating disinformation. Certainly, that's something that would merit a followup. John Fisher: In a sane America, the FBI would have NO right speaking to Twitter without some evidence of a violation of Federal law. That is exactly contrary to sanity—that the government can't communicate with media. The government has always communicated with the media, especially on matters of foreign infiltration. What the government can't do is exert undue pressure. In this case, it's clear Twitter made its own decision based on their own policies. There is a line, certainly. However, there is nothing in the report that is "damning". "There's a war on!", he said, in low, thrilling tones, surreptitiously looking around his shoulder at the bushes, checking for spies. "War! And if we're not careful, those commies on social media will be giving away our secret recipe for chicken salad. It's a darn good thing we've got our boys at the FBI, scanning the interweb to uncover all those Reds!"
"But what about the money?" countered Jane. "It's over one hundred billion now, with no traceability and no auditing whatsoever! Plus, American arms are turning up on the black market! Also, there's no chicken left in Kiev." "Never mind that, babe," said Agent Z, confidently. "Just make sure you ain't breakin' any of our rules - our boys in the FBI will take are of all of that. Just make sure you're not a Red - or, for that matter, even an Orange. And don't call it Kiev, anymore. Immediate account suspension." Aggie: And if we're not careful, those commies on social media will be giving away our secret recipe for chicken salad.
The allegation was that it was misinformation and propaganda for a foreign adversary. Aggie: It's a darn good thing we've got our boys at the FBI, scanning the interweb to uncover all those Reds! The information, in this case, was pass on by Ukrainian intelligence. In any case, none of this relates to the claim that the federal law enforcement can't communicate with media, or that it's "damning" if the FBI passes on information about alleged misinformation and propaganda provided by foreign intelligence. "The FBI has every right to ask Twitter to determine whether specific users have violated Twitter's terms of service."
Since violating a company's terms of service is not a crime, the FBI has no legitimate interest there. eeyore: Since violating a company's terms of service is not a crime, the FBI has no legitimate interest there.
Law enforcement can certainly communicate with the media to ward off information that may be untrue, especially if it involves possible foreign involvement. It's always been that way. re "Canada's Wildfires": Huge wildfires are indeed often the result of poor forest management. Good forest management incorporates regular controlled burns to keep the duff and the understory within reason. (That also helps the "Ruffed Grouse" which forms such an important part of our economy and culture here in South Jersey). It's when the government caves in to the greenies and fails to execute the controlled burns that eventually you get apocalyptic fires like this one. Same thing happens regularly in CA, causing widespread electric outages because the utilities aren't allowed to burn on their right-of-ways.
Regarding these alien spacecraft:
We're expected to believe that there are beings sufficiently advanced in technology that they can cross unimaginable galaxial distances, but when they arrive here, seemingly just crash their spacecraft or their spacecraft are otherwise 'retrieved'. Riiiight... I agree. If there were aliens, and if they could make it here, then they would have the ability to do as they pleased with us and our planet.
I'm still holding to the Fermi paradox as the best explaination. They either don't exist or it's not possible for them to get here. I hold with the former hypothesis. People don't grasp how incredible is Life.
DeGaulle: We're expected to believe that there are beings sufficiently advanced in technology that they can cross unimaginable galaxial distances, but when they arrive here, seemingly just crash their spacecraft or their spacecraft are otherwise 'retrieved'.
Earth is the Bermuda Triangle of the galaxy. Then again, perhaps they came to Earth on a dangerous mission. To this Canadian, claims of "bad forest management" are quite amusing.
The province of Québec alone has some 900,000 sq km of forest cover (twice that of Sweden). Half of Canada is covered by forests - some 2.5 million sq km. Just how would anyone propose to "manage" these vast forests, and with what resources, dare I ask? Many of these fires are burning in areas completely inaccessible to humans. But then, Canada is the second largest country in the world and most of it is devoid of people. By the way, Jerryskids is not wrong: the key culprits behind these fires are human (either through carelessness or arson - there is some evidence for ecocult fanatics deliberately starting fires) and lightning. With over three million sq km of forest in the US, Americans should probably appreciate the problem of forest management better than most. I think you are taking it personal. I have no problem with allowing nature to take it's course as you describe but when it does you can't say "there was nothing we could have done".
Without knowing Canada's forest practices I feel confident in saying that in some places they do in fact perform good fire prevention practices. Near cities, near national parks, etc. Why? Because it works. It can prevent forest fires. It makes it easier to fight forest fires. and it makes the forest healthier (usually). But I agree that Canada's forests are simply too large to do this everywhere and thus the result is every 20 years or so a Summer of forest fire hell. You make your choices and live with the consequences. Hey guys--can't get my comment accepted. Something about span. Can you fix this please ?
Licht thought his mission was to make CNN into a serious journalistic operation. Where did it go wrong?
Is this a trick question? Here in MT, we are fortunate to have recently elected a Republican governor who understands that "letting" miles of timber burn is just one more hippie-era solution to a complex problem.
What is stomach wrenching to me is the huge number of educated liberals who have repeated Bill Clinton's idealized plan--"let it burn" (baby) for nearly 30 years! It is the first best example of the power of the Democratic Party's successful indoctrination skills. Convincing so many government employees that burning timber down was better for the forest than selectively managing it is as classic an example of the power of one man's words as was Jim Jones in Jonestown! Schools of forestry all over the world have studied and refined forestry management skills in the past 30 years. Perhaps it is true that those years of forced loss have taught the big timber companies the evils of clear cutting--I believe that to be true, but what I don't understand is why it has taken so long to re-educate those lifelong government employees! Selecting an area to harvest timber, and then burning that area once it has been cut has the same effect--the same outcome as if a wildfire had been allowed to come through and ravage extra thousands and thousands of areas of timber. Good forest management preserves more standing timber and allows the sale of some responsibly harvested timber. Some liberal scientists have tried to claim that the temperature of burning out logged areas does not reach the same temperature as a wildfire--that may be true. However, the negative impact is so minimal it is laughable. They would rather it burn than turn it over to lumbering companies to harvest the trees. The earth day Malthusians are as deranged as the genderbenders. It's the NWO/BBB ... don't interfere.
Continued from above comment:
I remember in the years before Clinton it was impossible to force timber companies and the Forest Service to stop "clear cutting"! I remember that very well, and at the time of Bill Clinton's mandate, I was grateful for an effort to stop clear-cutting. But, over the years of living close to timber ranges and wildfires, I came to understand that we were losing a lot more timber than was necessary, and burning areas that have already been selectively logged has the same effect of cleaning up the area as a heat of a wildfire would have. Of course, Canada cannot selectively harvest its many thousands of miles of timber, but it can focus on more carefully managing those areas most vulnerable to attack from people--intentional or not. The real problem with the hippie generation was their arrogance that refused to give slow, careful, thoughtful, in-depth consideration of a problem. They did then and have since taught their children and grandchildren to make social choices in the same mode and with the same level of in-depth consideration as if they were shopping at Nordstrom's: "Oooh here's a new one--let's try this idea". The FDA and puberty blockers ... If a medical team would recommend that it works great to prevent and treat Covid I rather suspect no off label uses would be allowed for Covid, gender dysphoria or anything else. The ruling elite find the rules to be as malleable as they need them to be for their purposes.
FBI Willing To Allow All House Oversight Committee Members To View Biden DOC Alleging Criminal Scheme: Source
June 8, 2023 found at resistthemainstream.com It isn't classified ... let the entire Congress view it. "Supreme Court sides with Black voters, rules Alabama's congressional maps violate Voting Rights Act" "to allow an additional black majority district".
IMHO this is where the SCOTUS goes off the rails. Look at the frigging constitution!!! What they have done is now written in stone that every state must have a black majority district or multiple black majority districts. But, what about Hispanics? Muslims? Women? LGQBT+? ... This is a can or stupid that they opened up. They have essentially mandated gerrymandering BUT ONLY FOR BLACK PEOPLE!!! I can write a computer program in minutes that will create any number of districts superimposed over any state map that will have the exact same number of voters in each district and won't know or care if it created black majority districts or pink majority districts and THAT is the only fair way to parcel out voting districts. "US Has 12 Or More Alien Spacecraft"
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. We've seen nothing like that. You can watch YouTube videos from every kind of camera and typically the quality is good to excellent. But I have never seen any pictures of a so-called UFO that had any detail, any quality, any ability to discern that it wasn't a fly speck or a pigeon dropping.
I can remember details of things from 70 years ago that I could describe well enough that you could draw an accurate picture of it. But I have never heard any description of a captured UFO or UFO pieces that was even close to that kind of detail. The typical description is totally lacking in detail as though they were depending on vagueness to avoid being caught in a lie. At this point I would sooner believe a big foot sighting than anything I've seen or heard about UFO's. Which brings me to my main point: Why are we being inundated with UFO crap? Even our government is leaking even though there is no "there" there. What is up with this intentional distraction? ET is orders of magnitude smarter than us but hasn’t yet invented the tow truck?
I’m not buying it. Has Bud Light's sales decline bottomed out?
QUOTE: Sales for the week leading into Memorial Day weekend fell 23.9% from the same period a year ago. That constitutes a slight improvement compared to the week prior when sales were 25.7% lower than a year earlier.
