Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Re Taki's "your being played"
He said about Trump: "He’s already lost three election cycles for the GOP" But the truth is politicians Trump backed did well. Interestingly it was Mitch McConnell who sabotaged many Republicans because Trump backed them and Mitch doesn't like Trump. Probably about 20% of Republicans like Mitch and about 70% of Republicans like Trump. So Taki's advice to the Republicans is dont let Trump be the nominee. TDS runs deep. The Republicans, under Mitch's leadership, committed suicide when they failed to push a full scale investigation into the 2020 election and failed to support the courts hearing the evidence. The deep state Republicans so badly wanted their little piece of the pie back that they ostracized Trump and even though they knew the election was stolen they did nothing. There will never be another fair election again. The entire country will go the way of Chicago and San Francisco, just give it time. Did you not catch who the author to that piece is? Ann Coulter. I don’t remember, and I don’t care to look it up but I think it had something to do with the border at Mexico, but Ann Coulter went sour on Trump. She states a fact that everyone knows: They cheated Nixon out of his first presidential election. Nixon didn’t protest, and now look at what the democrats do with elections. Do elections even matter anymore? As Rush prophesied, democrats are through with elections. At any rate, she’s right, Republicans are being played, and we have been for decades. If anyone truly knows how to run around making an ass of herself, it would be Ann Coulter.
She's a sexually frustrated, bomb-throwing attention whore.
“He said about Trump:”
Actually, it was a “she” who said it. Ann Coulter. Coulter was an early Trump supporter but seemed to sour on him when he had trouble building his wall. That’s when I stopped reading her columns. This is the first one I’ve read since then and I can’t say I’m likely to have missed anything. Her argument seems to be that DeSantis would make a better president. Ok. Then she says we shouldn’t nominate Trump because Democrats will say bad things about him. Well! We can’t nominate a candidate that loony leftists will say bad things about! I guess she’s one of those election corruption deniers and believes that Biden actually got 81 million votes and that voting by mail is secure because signature verification is so accurate. It was RINOs in congress like Paul Ryan who blocked Trump’s efforts to fund the border wall Coulter claimed to love so much but that apparently escaped her notice. Trump made some serious mistakes when he was president (appointing Wray as FBI director, and Barr for AG to name two) and he didn’t drain much of the swamp. On the other hand, he might be more effective after his experience as president. DeSantis might or might not be a better candidate but the only way Republicans would truly get rolled is if we allow Democrats to pick Republican candidates. You are correct I mis-gendered him/her. It wasn't obvious to me that this was Coulter's article but after looking at the page again I see that it should have been obvious.
re "Trump Can't Get A Fair Trial In NYC"
See VICTOR DAVIS HANSON: WE’RE IN A REVOLUTION The Dems and Republicans are now trying to put U.S. troops IN Taiwan. This will change everything and it is the worst kind of political game. Just understand that the troops will not be there to defend or stop a China invasion. If China chooses to invade they will succeed completely in under 24 hours. No! The troops will be there to die! That is the specific and explicit intent of putting troops there. Because if China invades and kills our military people there the politicians know that they can incense the public over that and use it as a foil to declare war against China. Simple as that!
There is a solution to the trans-athletes taking over women's sports. It would require that all female athletes walk out and refuse to play. Not simply quit and don't give advance notice of intent. But suit up and go out on the field (pool, court, whatever) and if there is a trans athlete when the games begin just walk away. All the women athletes would have to do this, if only a few do it then the trans athletes win and the women lose.
I sure am glad a law professor called out those students at Stanford, that should put a swift end to that sort of nonsense. But just in case being scolded by a ninny law professor doesn't work, you might take a lesson from the Tennessee legislature and start imposing some consequences for bad behavior. These jackass Democrats took a bullhorn to the well of the legislative chamber and whipped up the mob of leftists who had stormed the Capitol. Of course, the Democrats are now crying "Racism!" (I don't know why they're not crying "Transphobia!") but last time I checked the mantra was "Elections have consequences". Unless and until consequences are imposed, we'll continue to get it in the shorts gooder and harder.
Not a shock that democrats want Trump as the Republican candidate; he doesn't do well with independent and swing voters, and for every Republican he energizes there are almost as many fatigued by him.
I get it, he was screwed by the media and by an election of doing whatever the f**k States wanted to do, but it's time to move on. Everyone knows Biden is an incompetent poopshow, but he's always been one...he was the idiot of the senate for 40+ years for Pete's sake, but he's still not the hated candidate that Hillary was. Republicans/conservatives have to ask themselves if Trump is more important than winning elections. It really is that simple. Disagreed. Republicans/Conservatives/Americans have to decide if it's OK for the FBI to tell them for whom they may vote.
Time to kick that grenade back under the tent, if even out of nothing but spite. Anyone who thinks they were "fatigued" by Trump wasn't paying enough attention to claim this fatigue. All of the hysteria, lawbreaking, norm-shattering, screaming, fist-shaking at the sky, etc etc etc was entirely and 100% in reaction to Trump, and it was all irrational nonsense. Trump is master of the self-inflicted wound, he adds enough fatigue on his own. Every time I’m reminded Gen Milley is still around it affirms this, and knowing ivanka and Kushner are around as “advisers” - whew. I’m just not interested, and especially for a guy who would only be around for four years on the astronomical chance that he won again.
Not to beat a dead horse but Trump is running away in the polls and there is little doubt that if we had a fair election he would win. I'm thinking you just don't like Trump and prefer the donkeys.
I'm thinking that you refuse to see that Trump has faults that don't poll well with independent voters, a sizable number of whom must vote for any candidate for him/her to win. I'm thinking your response to any criticism of Trump is to accuse the person voicing the criticism of voting for Democrats. I've never voted for a Democrat, and I will find someone other than Trump to vote for in the Republican primary. That said, I will vote Republican in the general election even if that means voting for Trump.

Ah yes, the old "If you don't bend the knee to my guy you must be one of those people." Solid, that's the mental giant stuff. It's like telling people they must be pro-Putin if they don't like sending billions upon billions to Ukraine.
Speaking of polls, the newest ones have DeSantis beating Biden, but Trump only tying him, at best.

Here is the sunlight and answers to why Trump was so sabotaged in his first four years and why he now fully understands the scope of those who oppose him. https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2023/04/07/whos-they/#more-245273
HOSS: Trump is master of the self-inflicted wound
Nothing personal, you understand, but people who talk like this exasperate me. I'll grant that I was less than fully satisfied with the first three years of his term, that many things were left unfinished, and that his choice of staff was ...questionable to say the least. People who -- like SCReader below -- talk of "faults" that will drive away "independents" are holding him to a standard that no Democrat would ever be held to by their voters or by anybody else. Merely saying "...they let you grab 'em by the pussy" is somehow so much worse than showering with your adolescent daughter and groping children in public. Voting for him in '16 ought to have been a no-brainer if for no other reason that he infuriated the right people. Doing so again for the same reason ought to be reason enough given the stakes. It's all good, just differing opinions. For me, Trump just doesn't seem to realize that sometimes it's okay to stfu and that it's okay to listen to people not named Ivanka or Jared. I voted for him in '16 and '20 and hope that he's not the candidate in '24. We can't afford another four years of Biden; and I think people are absolutely daft if they think Trump could beat Mr. Magoo (who I absolutely despise).

De-dollarization will require balanced budgets. Anything less and we will have a Zimbabwe style currency. Not raising the debt limit
will be a good start to a balanced budget. Ann is not understanding the politicized bureaucracy or the career intelligence fraternity that conform to the "interagency consensus". Trump, like Nixon and Kennedy, does not accept the ruling elite operating behind the curtain.
There are plenty of political candidates willing to conform to those rules and they walk away very well compensated for doing so. Long and fascinating--lessons for the rebuild ... over at westernrifleshooters |
