Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Imagine this tune if Roy had not just died

Would it have been better? (The rocking chair.)


The Wilbury gang made up their (mostly goofy) tunes and lyrics on the fly. Talent to burn. I'd say Jeff Lynn was the glue.

That tune was made to channel Roy's voice, but it is still a great piece.

You are likely correct about Jeff Lynn. He produced lots of good music. He's sort of like Todd Rundgren in that regard. I always appreciated the Wilbury's music.

The Wilburys started releasing songs when I was in high school. I always liked them, but I don’t think I really appreciated the enormous amount of talent in the lineup until I was at least in my 30s. What an accomplished group of artists……

Wonderful musicians having fun, dragged down at times by the devil's anchor, the horrible Bob Dylan.
RIP to The Traveling Wilburys, excluding fake Nobel winners.
PS Only Paul Simon in the post 1950's could get a Nobel.

Bob Dylan as the Devil Anchor? Dylan made Tweeter and the Monkey Man... could you imagine Roy or George vocalizing " in Jersey anything is legal as long as you don't get caught"? Not the same

Well you know who else could have made that song work? Paul Anka. But they didn't include.him in the band did they? Big.mistake
