Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

I would be in favor of giving reparations in the form of a one way ticket to Libera and the recipient giving up citizenship as they board the plane.
The math says every non-black will have to cough up roughly $645,000 for that one-time $5m payment. Oh, and another $12,500 per year for the $92,000 annual payment --FOR THE NEXT 250 YEARS.
Men, Women, Children, Rich & Poor. The poor certainly need to pay their fair share, or it's just not equitable otherwise. Can't pay? I'm thinking we will need to reinstate Debtors Prison, and then, maybe we can hire out the debtors to raise the cash to pay their reparations. Of course the only people who could afford to hire the debtors would be.......... IMHO, the SF City Council have to realize that these numbers are impossible, so this is a Joke son, A JOKE. /30 It would be impossible to give a million to each eligible black person never mind giving them 5 million. In fact you couldn't come up with the money if it was the original estimate of $200,000+. So what is the reparations game all about? It isn't about actually giving them money. I think it is about inciting anger and chaos. Well, that and politicians maybe stealing some of that money on the sly. I think that those people behind the curtain pulling the strings are feeding a civil war.
Re: Reparations
All this talk of reparations is the result of yet another facet of Democrat racism. (Republican) General Sherman tried to give freed slaves 40 acres and a mule but was thwarted by (Democrat) Andrew Johnson. What's gonna happen when no reparations payments are actually forthcoming and it's just been a lot of talk and virtue-signaling?
How will this play among those that adjust elections?
Walton is not a shoe in his district, but with the right help... then, soon he will be termed out. Obviously reparations are only theater, particularly when the legacy of slavery could be just genetic, selection on selection. That is what can NOT be said, said or unsaid such knowledge does an individual no good in day to day life. Does this mean you can squat in San Francisco?
You can squat on the sidewalk already. (rimshot) The Trump/Desantis Circus Circus shows that they are scraping the bottom of the distraction barrel. The CPUSA is eager to erase their past regarding Bull Connors and others. Love those memes with Ape Lincoln stating the CPUSA (D) hasn't been this mad since the Grand Old Politburo (R) took away their slaves. Comrade commissar Pelosi McCarthy (Uniparty) just said that the cop who killed unarmed Ashli Babbit in cold blood did a good job. People who wonder how the tiny minority Bolsheviks took over Russia should pay attention to the WOKE mind virus. MF is the top result now in a not the evil G search engine! I mostly agree that Trump shouldn't be attacking DeSantis. But that is what happens in primaries. All the never Trumpers who are whining about this forgot how their heros McCain and Romney acted when they ran for president. Trump is essentially doing what everyone does. DeSantis can afford to take the high road as he hasn't decided yet. I tend to think that 100% of the criticism of Trump is either from Democrats or Rinos. Every true patriot and believe in the constitution and our Republic supports exactly what Trump says he will do. And yet we are supposed to believe that when Trump writes a mean tweet that they all cringe. I don't think so.
The Latinx issue is amusing.
Once again, the inherent contradictions of wokery are so well displayed: touting decolonization while simultaneously attempting to colonize an entirely different language with your grammar fetishes! That 20% set aside is just to make liberals feel good about themselves. When I was living in the Bay Area in during the aughts, they were building condos all over the place, and a percentage of the units had to be "affordable." In expensive cities, "affordable" isn't since the salary definition has a lot to do with it:
"deed-restricted to low income residents who make at or less than 80% the area median income. Alternatively, 100% affordable to moderate income residents where rents don’t exceed 120% area median income." The San Francisco median household income (in 2021 dollars), from 2017-2021 to $126,187. They are also not "affordable" because there's nothing about what the HOA dues have to be. I heard an interview with a clueless woman from Oakland who was all thrilled about buying a unit in one condo in San Francisco. But then, she discovered how bad the HOA was. Which meant she couldn't actually afford to live there. So most of those "affordable" units were never sold. So it makes lefties feel good because the "did something," and were still able to keep people out. |
