Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Amen. Most of my involvement in local politics is aimed at preventing political "solutions" that are apt to become problem generators.

Indeed.

1. The grifters and ideologues drawn to politics will never let up, and will constantly push to expand government's reach.

2. These political critters must create and perpetuate dependency, fear, and powerlessness to justify their power grabs.

3. The only defense against The Leech Class is to severely limit the scope of government. It is difficult to roll back socialist programs. It takes leaders with principle and huevos, and typically takes place at a major economic low point - when many fools clamor for gubmint handouts.

I have been a daily visitor to AD since 2015 and occasionally before that--he never failed to soothe the troubled heart with a true and clear assessment of today's world. He gave pleasure with his writing and his choice of art and music. His was a daily event that enriched my life. He had the courage to admit that he had been liberal--leftist and became a reasoned conservative. I will miss him daily!
