We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.
As there are far fewer social circles where half a pack of Luckies and half a bottle of Scotch is considered appetizer and aperitif, with the remainder of each as dessert, I think it's obvious that people look younger today. Look at the early 1970s Tonight Shows for what a 50 year-old Hollywood star looked like then versus Tom Cruise today.

Geez that guy is really annoying. Has society created a YouTube generation of people that think they must run through every single exaggerated facial expression on record to keep the viewer's interest? Constant, jerking body movements and wild gesticulations add to the effect. Try turning the sound off and watching for a few seconds. I can't imagine eating dinner with this guy.
There are a couple of people who do vids on this channel. This guy is not my favorite (curiously, the other guy looks a lot like him).
The comments on one of his most recent vids was that he's going kind of crazy. Like literally, crazy. He was all over the place in his discussion, and getting close to incoherent. I gave up watching and looked at the comments and realized I wasn't the only one just not interested in what he was saying.
It depends. Kind of more about genetics then it is about an era. I was still getting ID checked at bars when I was 35. I'm 79 now and look 60 something. A friend of mine had his grandmother's picture on the wall and she was in her early 70's and had kind of a goatee and mustache and looked over 100. My uncle went to war in WW II and his picture made him look 14 in uniform when he joined. Four years later he was 21 and looked 50.
I think on average, people today do look about 10 years younger at any given age than people did in the early 70's. This difference is due primarily to the decline of smoking. The WW2 generation, and older silents, smoked like chimneys. This ages the skin. Most people do not smoke these days.
Another change is that earlier generations like the WW2's had "stronger" faces. Men were more craggy looking and both men and women had wider faces and particularly jaws. Jaclyn Kennedy (Onassis) is a classic example. I think people had higher testosterone levels in the past.
The two 1970's rock star looking guys who are claimed to be 17 years old (but are really not) have the strong face look. This is what some people call "second aging" which a lot of guys used to go through in their mid 20's at the time. Guys have much softer looking faces these days. Some of this is weight gain. But I think most of it is simply younger generations these days have lower testosterone levels.
