Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Faux-ci just carries on, despite the fact that he was jabbed at least twice and still caught the Kung Flu.
I'm supposed to see Porcupine Tree in Boston this fall. I hope the venue doesn't require proof of vaccination Yay Porcupine Tree! I just saw Haken/Symphony X and have tix for Wheel/Leprous in the Fall. No proof required in Orange County, CA.

I fully expect the next Republican President will get the full Trump treatment, regardless of whether they are Populist or Establishment/UniParty, now that the " Der Staat uber Alles" types know it works. Remember that Bush and Romney were Hitler, too. They were very successful hamstringing Trump based on fantastical fabrications. The question is, was Trump uniquely vulnerable. to these kind of attacks? I think Ron DeSantis is a great person, a great conservative and exactly what the country needs in a president. If he runs and wins I will be ecstatic. He will be a great president and will do a lot to restore our country to normal. I think he has less haters than Trump and less baggage and the election would be less embroiled in hate from the left.
I think Trump is incredible, the greatest president ever in our history, was right about everything and we need him badly to save the country. But the left's dirty tricks and lawfare and the hate and the MSM complicity would make the entire process a left wing hate fest. But if Trump could win America would be the better for it. He would do a better job preparing and protecting us from danger. He would do a better job in restoring our economy and fighting homeland threats. He understands the problems better than anyone else and understand the solutions and process to fix them. We face almost certain economic doom and I think Trump has both the wisdom and the guts to do what is necessary while everyone else would prefer to do what is safe for their career. Only time will tell if we will choose someone who can and will save the Republic or we choose another poser who will ride it into the ground, Odd that the Russians were so successful at hacking the 2016 elections and are going to be so successful at hacking the 2022 elections but didn't even make an attempt at the 2020 elections, Of course, it's our "intelligence experts" making these claims, the same intelligence experts that have proven to be so wrong about everything else, so I'll take their claims with a bucket of salt.
Jerryskids: {Russia} didn't even make an attempt at the 2020 elections
QUOTE: Russia sought to “launder” its anti-Biden messages through “prominent US individuals, some of whom were close to former President Trump and his administration,” the declassified report states. https://www.politico.com/news/2021/03/16/russia-stoked-ukraine-allegations-biden-476363 If the Russians were so successful at hacking and influencing past elections, and if the Democrats are so worried that they'll be doing it again and losing badly, how come we're not having Senate and House hearings to explore the issue and get laws passed? That's how normal people rank the severity / urgency of an issue these days.
Regarding COVID: In this part of the country there seems to be a resurgence in cases, but on the other hand, the cases seem to be milder. I've got it myself now, for the third time (Oct '20, Jan '21, now) according to the home test. Thought it was seasonal allergies at first. Aggie: If the Russians were so successful at hacking and influencing past elections, and if the Democrats are so worried that they'll be doing it again and losing badly, how come we're not having Senate and House hearings to explore the issue and get laws passed?
QUOTE: A nearly 1,000-page report released by the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday documented a broad set of links and interactions between Russian government operatives and members of the 2016 Trump campaign https://www.cbsnews.com/news/senate-report-russian-interference-2016-us-election/ " ...a brad set of links and interactions..... I bet there's lots of pretty flow charts lay it all out. And yet they've done nothing about it. Almost as if it wasn't substantial enough to capture hearts and minds. Thanks for supporting my case for me.
Aggie: And yet they've done nothing about it.
That is not correct. The U.S. indicted 11 Russian intelligence agents involved in election interference, and the Congress passed sanctions legislation targeting Russia. However, the Trump administration refused to enforce the sanctions. Trump and like-minded Republicans then espoused the false claim that there was no Russian interference, which politically limited any further action. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-russia-sanctions-trump-no-new-congress-law-election-hacking-intervention-putin-kremlin-a8184866.html Furthermore, the Trump administration acted to delay the release of the intelligence report on Russian interference in the 2020 election.
https://thehill.com/policy/national-security/3476107-watchdog-finds-trump-dhs-altered-delayed-report-on-russian-election-interference/ To review: Aggie: If the Russians were so successful at hacking and influencing past elections, and if the Democrats are so worried that they'll be doing it again and losing badly, how come we're not having Senate and House hearings to explore the issue and get laws passed? First, your predicates: Russia did interfere in the 2016 and 2020 elections. Even now, the echoing of Russian propaganda is a regular in U.S. media. There were congressional hearings, indictments, and legislation. Then, your logic: Even if the predicates were true, the conclusion doesn't follow if Republicans are intent on stymieing action, including by withholding intelligence. You give yourself away. Are you talking about the indictments that originated from within the Mueller team, that were dropped by the DOJ like a hot potato when the 'indicted' Russians hired a legal team that confronted the DOJ, and demanded discovery and full access to the information? In other words, called their bluff?
And if I recall correctly, did the Republican Congress and Administration really say the claims were false? I seem to remember they said the claims were being blown out of all proportion and ridiculous - and then proceeded to show why a few million dollars spent in FaceBook ads had no meaningful impact on the election, and in any case were representative of the normal trickery that goes on in election cycles - both here in the US, and in other countries, at the direction of the US. Your opinions are showing. Russia, Russia, Russia ! The old booga-booga. All of these so-called actions are politically symbolic and normal conflict resolution in the world of international diplomacy. We run some diplomatic operatives out, they run some of ours out, tit-for-tat. How many people look at these actions today as being pivotal, or even relevant in a historical way? Nobody does. And once again, you cite opinions that are in line with Leftist operatives, as being 'proof'. Your quoting Fact Checkers from The Hill?? They are proof of your bias. Go ahead - Take a poll: How many people think that Russians meaningfully influenced the elections in 2016 and 2020? I predict the numbers would fall along the political divide, and even then, the numbers would be low on your side and reflective of harder-core Leftists.

The indictments were dropped because it would have required disclosure of classified information, and there was little likelihood of prosecution as the accused had no presence in the United States. Aggie: did the Republican Congress and Administration really say the claims were false? Trump: ‘I don’t see any reason why’ Russia would have interfered with election. https://www.politico.com/story/2018/07/16/trump-putin-meeting-election-meddling-722424 Otherwise, they conflated "Russian collusion" with "Russian interference." The bipartisan Senate intelligence investigation found that the Trump campaign welcomed Russian interference, and that contacts between Russian agents and the Trump campaign constituted a "grave" intelligence threat. Aggie: and then proceeded to show why a few million dollars spent in FaceBook ads had no meaningful impact on the election That would be illegal. Also, Russian agents hacked the DNC and Clinton's campaign manager, a federal felony, then released the information for maximum political damage to the Clinton campaign. Trump and his followers have continued to amplify Russian propaganda. Aggie: Take a poll: Polls don't determine reality. Your predicates were false, and your logic was faulty. Other than that, perfect.

Conservative voters are going to have to be vigilant now that the '22 election season has begun. Republicans are in line for sweeping advances, and the internal turf battles are beginning now, between Establishment Republicans and Trump-styled populist conservatives. I think there's going to be a lot of damage done, the kind that Republicans seem to specialize in, the kind that keeps them weak as a political force, when compared to Democrats.
Eric Greitens seems to be targeted right now. He put out a RINO-hunting themed ad that has several groups triggered. Some are calling him out as erratic and irresponsible, some are pejoratively calling him a Democrat, and so on. Greitens is an ex-seal, someone who left the Democratic party in 2015 because of the VA's treatment of vets. He was run out of the Missouri governorship by a smear scandal campaign, and ex-wife custody grievance, and prosecutor over-reach by a Soros-funded activist prosecutor (Kim Gardner), whose investigator was indicted on 7felonies (perjury, evidence tampering) and pled out to a misconduct misdemeanor. Follow the story carefully and you'll see that the smearing continues - it's worked once, so..... I don't know much about Greitens, but his bio is interesting and he seems really to have gotten one dirty deal after another. I suspect we'll come to see that many credible and endorse-able Republican candidates that are outside of the Establishment may be subjected to similar campaigns, both from Democrats and Establishment Republicans. The changes are going to have to come from discriminating voters, because the Establishment Republicans, RINOs, are committed to the same tactics as their counterparts across that toxic aisle. I really liked Greitens as governor. They went after him just like they did Trump. It is known that some in his own party wanted him gone and they got their wish. What the people that are still going after him, just like that Caleb guy, don't mention if has been proven that there were so many "fixed" things used to go after him that have been found not true. Yes he was stupid for having the affair . The local Dems paid her to come forward to help get rid of him. The Soros funded head prosecutor used a crooked guy to "find" evidence and get rid of other evidence. They won't stop. This Caleb Rowden makes me ill to think that he is heading the Republicans in Jefferson City another example of a RINO Greitens is talking about.
Greitens will be the next senator. I think most of the republican voters will settle for nothing less. Rowden and Blunt rinos are pretty well done in the state. They are being voted out as they are discovered. Parsons is less conservative but at least he didn't have the whole state shut down of the covid fiasco. As a relatively new citizen of the state, I am still learning about the political leadership, but it is much more agreeable to me than Indiana or Minnesota political leadership.
I'm mostly ignoring the blah-blah over what the Democrats and Republicans are going to do now, because it's still five months to the midterms. Nobody knows what's going to happen. I hope the Republicans will totally wipe the Democrats out, but we'll see. And I'm not looking forward to the shrill and nasty rhetoric we'll be subjected to when everybody starts focusing on 2024.
As for that disgusting little garden gnome Fauci, why are we still being subjected to his opinions? Haven't we seen how useless and out of touch they are? I don't know the local politics and problems involved in the Lithuania blockade of Kaliningrad. I suspect if I knew the whole story it wouldn't be the same as what our media is telling us. But simply based on what I know I don't think Lithuania should have blockaded this Russian enclave. Perhaps it will get worked out diplomatically as it should be.
However the story has legs because some believe Lithuania is unnecessarily poking the bear and that might cause war. And it might true, if that is the only reason that Lithuania did it they should reconsider. But! Russia has invaded a sovereign country and I don't think they deserve any special treatment. To simply say, as some pundits have, that we and Europe, and NATO should all hide in the closet and the bear do whatever he wants to, is foolish. You can count on the US state dept, and the CIA are behind the NATO move to block Russia from its naval base. It is like the Crimea. Do they really think Russia would allow the Ukraine to rule a major Russian naval base or allow Lithuania to control a major Russian naval base. It requires gross incompetence to think so and the US is displaying that incompetence but always at someone else's expense.
re Russia Demands Lithuania Lift "Openly Hostile" Blockade
The leaders of Lithuania must be out of their minds. It wouldn't surprise me to see Russia use this as an excuse to call NATO's bluff and invade and annex Lithuania. I said it wouldn't surprise me. That doesn't mean they will do it, but this is a provocation we just don't need right now. High stakes geopolitical poker. The US has also publicly admitted that US military personnel have been performing cyber attacks on Russian assets (i.e., not 'hackers based in the US,' but actual 'soldiers')
High stakes indeed. And it's a game where a cardshark is playing against an infirm fool.
Would the Democrats initiate a hot war in Europe to create a huge crisis that "maybe" would prevent the red wave? Have they become that corrupt, that communist that they would attempt a ploy like that? I think that they have and the proof will be what happens between now and November.
