Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Friday, March 4. 2022There is no good outcomeSad, but Ukraine never had a prayer and that has been clear for months. What comes after is unclear but the Ukraine will be back in the Russian fold instead of moving towards the EU and the NATO (aka American) fold. The efforts of the latter to play this game were not likely to succeed because Russia would never put up with that. It was said repeatedly.

Yes. But it is all a useful and necessary exercise for the Reset propaganda machine to keep in shape and in control of their subjects. Practice makes perfect.
There’s a decent likelihood Ukraine can make a Russian occupation very miserable for Russia.
I suspect that the eastern portions of Ukraine will be quite happy to be back in the Russian fold, as compared to being fed to the plundering of the EU/WEF/IMF/WB Davos/Soros globalist gang.
I actually feel sorry for the Western Ukraine, which wants to get gang-raped by the globalists the same way the US has been. " which wants to get gang-raped by the globalists the same way the US has been."
Have you ever been outside the US? Because I have. Australia, Asia, Europe. I see the way the American poor live. I see the way the rest of the world lives. I'm not happy with the direction things have gone recently (20 years), but our standards of material consumption aren't any lower, and our lives are materially richer than they used to be. So if this is rape, then let's get some more of it. Been out of the USA plenty (Vietnam, Mexico, Africa, Asia, Europe) The middle class prosperity of our fathers is being destroyed by the globohomo elites. Our children and grandchildren will live in a very different country
Yep, it requires both husband and wife to work to keep up with the 50's-60's wages of the husband. The cost of products has remained fairly constant with the value of silver dimes, but the wages have been decimated by importing goods AND labor through legal and illegal immigration. The ruling elite and oligarchs have raped the middle class.
Our freedoms are being whittled away day by day, hour by hour, and our supposed democratically elected liberal democracy government is turning more authoritarian, declaring its own citizens as terrorists for daring to question their "woke" agenda.
Economics is NOT the only way one can get raped, though the other comments clearly describe that globalization has raped a good many of our fellow citizens, while enriching the higher "intelligence" strata. Add to it that much of our prosperity was really created by previous generations pre-globalization, and we are letting it dwindle away. I spent half of my career in third world countries and I can tell you that the first question I would get was "Is it true that you can go to the store and buy whatever you want? ie clothes, food, hardware etc.? I would say yes and they would shake theitr heads. When I returned to the USA I always had a list of items they requested I bring back for them. It might have been electronics, or clothes, or books, or some other item. I tried my best to accommodate. some of the items I brought back were considered treasures and were proudly displayed at their home. So the lesson I learned was to pack one suitcase for me and another for my colleagues in the host country with an emphasis on toys for their children. One girl, who was shy but bright, told her father she wished to study in the UsA--he told me and several years later she was able to enroll in a US university and she stayed with us. We gained a daughter and some lifelomng friends.
How would/will the American shopper like having to try and find food under these conditions? The old USSR.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWTGsUyv8IE&feature=youtu.be Oh. Please! Geez louise gets off the soap box. The fact is --for one reason or another--there are good, innocent citizens of a town, a country, a place being slaughtered to satisfy the green of our very own Russian Mafia!! Please, please, do not try to make yourselves feel better!
So the Russian-speaking parts of Ukraine drag the whole thing into submission to Moscow? Why can’t the Ukrainian-speaking parts declare separation?
The situation is kind of the opposite. The eastern regions want to split away from western Ukraine in order to stay Russia-affiliated, and the western Ukrainians have been waging war on them with morter barrages and sniper fire. Since 2014. 14,000 deaf in the Donbass region.
It pays to know what has been happening. Please stop calling the country Ukraine, "the Ukraine." The usage "the Ukraine" is used when implying that it is merely a region of Russia and not a sovereign state.
I share the foreboding that things will go badly for Ukraine, but experiences tells me not to rush to despair as an excuse for inaction. It means something when people fight back against high odds. Perhaps they don't often win, and they pay a high price for resistance, but the alternative is voluntary slavery and teaching the aggressors that their strategy not only works but exacts few costs. Appeasement has a long and ugly history.
Russia/Putin will not succeed. It is true, they will destroy the cities of Ukraine with standoff artillery and rockets, but the people of Ukraine will never surrender to Putin. The troops of the Russian occupation will be attacked at every point and wherever they lay their heads to sleep, by the guerilla army of Ukraine, for as long as they remain in occupation of Ukraine. The people of Ukraine will remember this heinous destruction of their country, forever.
The Ukrainian propaganda obscures the fault of much of the Ukraine situation is ours. (Not excusing Putin for his actions, but face the facts people, we created this situation.)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uE9jULgC42o https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrMiSQAGOS4 Ukraine did have a prayer ! The handwriting was writ large on the wall in 2014. What Ukraine should have done is made ever able bodied man in the country a soldier in the reserves. They should have trained a substantial number of them to be snipers. They should have trained another large percentage to be sappers/lone wolves. Every man in the Ukraine should have been issued the same rifle that the Russian soldiers use and required to train their marksmanship at least monthly. Ukraine should have set up a way to destroy every bridge and every highway crossing in the country. They should have deployed explosives under their runways. They should have built under ground shelters and stock piled food and necessities. They live next to Russia for Christ sake. They should have had some way to strafe long columns of military vehicles and to sabotage those roads to trap them; then send in the lone wolves and snipers to take them out one man at a time.
Attention Moldova, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia: Immediately draft every man into your army and issue them an AK-74. Begin training to protect your country today. Purchase and stockpile hand held anti-air and anti-tank missiles. You are next. Nuclear war is inevitable. It’s not as if this whole thing could have been avoided,
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/nov/04/ex-nato-head-says-putin-wanted-to-join-alliance-early-on-in-his-rule What alternatives are there to such naked aggression? An incredibly stupid comment. Tell that to the dead Russians ... and let's not forget the Taliban.
