We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Well, Trudeau did it! He declared war on Canada's citizens. What now? Now that he has declared them all to be insurrectionists and will seize the bank accounts of anyone who donated any money to the freedom convoy, what will Canadians do? This matters, because if Canadians simply give up there is no going back. I hope that all Canadians rally behind their fellow citizens against this tyranny by Trudeau. I suspect most Canadians will quietly withdraw into their homes and communities and allow their government to punish these freedom protestors. I'm sorry to prejudge and I really hope I'm wrong but true grit is in short supply and I think it has been missing in most people living comfortably in the West probably since WW II ended.

If you did that in America, the police would seize all your cash using civil asset forfeiture laws. You’re automatically a drug dealer if you have large amounts of cash. I’m sure they have something similar in Canada, aye. Anything goes with emergency powers.

I believe that you can "have" more than $10,000 in cash even while crossing borders. I think there are only two requirements and that is to declare that you have it if asked and in some cases, not all, to have proof of the source of your cash.

Call that authoritarian political science. It is as prevalent in education as it is in medicine. And why? The government and administrative state have all but taken over both of these fields. Instead of taxpayers being the client the government has taxed the hell out of taxpayers and directed the money to those institutions. Now the institutions view the government as the client. The government produces nothing but bureaucracy and debt.

Had to laugh at that one. Made me think of the early years of the USSR, when Soviet ideologists panicked at the idea that there were other ideologies (Italian fascism, and later German National Socialism) that might also be "progressive" and expressive of "the will of the people." So they came up with the notion that anything not specifically Soviet, or anyone not kowtowing to Soviet millennialism was reactionary and "fascist/Nazi."
That definition of "fascist" was, by the way, was the most successful Soviet export to the rest of the world. To this day, millennalian progressives everywhere accuse opponents of being fascist simply because they dare to not kowtow.
