Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Sorry to hijack your thread but thought this might generate some interest:

150 CASE Road Locomotive pulling 44 bottom John Deere plow - new record! 18 minute video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xDj45zF-l0 Fortunately, we have a new unit to describe large amounts of money. That high speed rail will only cost 10 James Webb Space Telescopes.
I wonder if trains will roll before JWST dies from old age, which is currently predicted as 20 years from now. The $105 billion is just the beginning. Who could afford to ride such an expensive train? The Rich would take a private jet. The cost to ride the train would have to be in the thousands or tens of thousands. Do the math. So the fare would have to be heavily subsidized which means a few billion or so every year. Then there would be the maintenance, high speed rail requires much more maintenance than does regular rail so another few billions or so a year for that. Then there would be insufficient ridership because even with the subsidized fares the fare would be too high that the common man would take a plane. The only purpose for this train is to hand out $105 billion to Democrat donors.
but we have to keep spending millions to subsidize fares, or the billions we spent to build it will be wasted.
The Sunk Cost Fallacy Mark II Mark I is "We built it from a place nobody lives to a place nobody goes. If we don't extend it all the way from LA to SF, all those billions we spent will be wasted." If "net-zero emissions" is the goal, perhaps we should just get rid of the Army? After all, how can they get to "net-zero emissions" as long as servicemen are exhaling?
Furthermore, shouldn't we just get rid of ordinance and munitions because of the environmental degradation they cause when detonated? With world on edge, Army unveils climate change priorities QUOTE: “The Army must adapt across our entire enterprise and purposefully pursue greenhouse gas mitigation strategies to reduce climate risks,” Secretary of the Army Christine Wormuth said in a statement. “If we do not take action across, across our installations, acquisition and logistics and training, our option to mitigate these risks will become more constrained with each passing year.” Under the plan, the Army will achieve a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas pollution by 2030 and reach net-zero emission levels by 2050. Army leaders also will be expected to factor in climate change concerns while planning military strategies or logistics needs. https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2022/feb/8/world-edge-army-unveils-climate-change-priorities/ feeblemind: After all, how can they get to "net-zero emissions" as long as servicemen are exhaling?
Animal respiration is largely carbon neutral. The carbon dioxide humans exhale was recently fixed by plants from atmospheric carbon dioxide. Quibble-DickZ keep proving everyday they're nothing more than pedantic cockwombles.
Haha, you don't even understand the words being used.
As usual, wrong again. Maybe feeblemind really meant to say “farting” instead of “exhaling.”
"Biden Advisor Anthony Fauci: Forced Masking In Schools Should Continue Until “We Can Feel Safe”… "
Thunderdome is the only answer to problems like this one. Stacy Abrams and Fauci get locked in. "Two men enter" (1/2 + 1-1/2)..... It can to me; so many are really dug in on children's masks, because the teeeachers want to isolate themselves from all those smelly children, smelly minority kids. Re: Biden Admin Funding Free Crack Pipes To Promote 'Racial Equity'
What better way to celebrate Black History Month than to give away $30 million worth of crack pipes. Compare and Contrast
Joe Biden so loved the black community, that he gave them crack pipes and safe spaces to destroy their minds and spirit. Donald Trump had a plan to offer $500 billion in capital for the black community. Creating jobs and nurturing the mind and spirit. Duke editorial - the hubris of being young and told you're smart.
That being said, has anything worth a damn come out of Duke since Charles Townes? I haven't seen anyone or anything that justifies its perennially high rankings and regard in academia. It might very well be the biggest farce among higher ed. At this point I don't see why the college did not suspect the victim immediately for the hate crimes. And estimated one-third of hate crimes are frauds, and the number is over 50% on college campuses.
Signs a hate crime might be a fraud are also quite simple. Anything that looks too perfect and poetic usually is. Real hate crimes - and they do exist - are usually giving someone a spontaneous shove or a threat with an insult attached. You see it on the street or on some types of jobs or at sporting events. When someone goes to elaborate trouble to target someone, your spidey-sense should go off. If someone dislikes black people and wants them off their college campus, why would they pick a college that has lots of black people? Answer: they wouldn't. There is a second problem, beyond the leaping to conclusions and falsely accusing someone on campuses, and that is people wanting to have racism discussions continue anyway even after the incident has been exposed as a fraud. (See Gang of 88 at Duke, for example.) They are angry because they were deprived of such a great opportunity to make hectoring speeches and enforce their values on others. Did you see this AVI?
Signaling virtuous victimhood as indicators of Dark Triad personalities QUOTE: We show that individuals with Dark Triad traits-Machiavellianism, Narcissism, Psychopathy-more frequently signal virtuous victimhood, controlling for demographic and socioeconomic variables that are commonly associated with victimization in Western societies. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32614222/ Summary of Terrorism Threat to the U.S. Homeland
QUOTE: The United States remains in a heightened threat environment fueled by several factors, including an online environment filled with false or misleading narratives and conspiracy theories, and other forms of mis- dis- and mal-information . . . . . . These threat actors seek to exacerbate societal friction to sow discord and undermine public trust in government institutions to encourage unrest, which could potentially inspire acts of violence. https://www.dhs.gov/ntas/advisory/national-terrorism-advisory-system-bulletin-february-07-2022 Sounds like they are looking at conservatives, yes? So the original research was fine, but was immediately co-opted to serve the opposite political narrative. Ducky.
It is also interesting that (again) locally, where people "live and move and have their being" misinformation that amplifies to point of accusation is being regarded as criminal and the perps are being prosecuted. Even WRT to rioting and vandalism, only a few localities are declining to prosecute miscreants. Yet as soon as this filters up to a national level, like the FBI or a city large enough to attract national attention, the story is flipped to make it look like the victims were actually the perpetrators to begin with. I can never tell whether they are being sly and deceptive or really are this brainwashed. I eventually conclude that the line is never clear. People who want deeply to believe they are the persecuted ones richly imagine what being oppressed would be like, then go looking for scraps to confirm their bias. Even Nazis and Bolsheviks used some true facts to convince themselves they were the victims, justifying their extreme responses. Half-truths are always more dangerous and all that. Thanks for the reply AVI.
I always appreciate your opinion. Thank you. I have been more than irritable over herre and that is not my usual. Appreciated.
Someone elsewhere on the interweb pointed out that today under federal and state mandates in NY if you are vaccinated BUT have covid you can go where ever you like. BUT if you are unvaccinated and do not have covid the mandates restrict your movement. Now in conjunction with the knowledge that today in heavily vaccinated countries that the majority of hospitalizations and deaths from covid are occurring among the already vaxxed does ANYTHING that our government is doing make any sense?
The government position on the vaccine has gone from the vax will prevent you from getting covid to the vax will prevent you from dying if you get covid to the vax can't prevent infection or death but if you get the vax you will at least go to heaven when you die from covid. Here is an Israeli doctor https://gatesofvienna.net/2022/02/hospitalization-vaxed-or-unvaxed-makes-no-difference/ supporting that.
JustMe: Someone elsewhere on the interweb pointed out that today under federal and state mandates in NY if you are vaccinated BUT have covid you can go where ever you like.
Someone elsewhere on the interweb pointed out that if you get the COVID vaccine it will give you X-ray vision. "If you receive a positive COVID-19 test result, regardless of your vaccination status, follow these steps: Isolate for at least 5 complete days" https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/new-york-state-contact-tracing And This https://ninetymilesfromtyranny.blogspot.com/2022/02/covid-19-vaccines-reach-full-poison.html it seems that the vaccine not only does not work but it can kill you.
The actual report states, "Vaccine effectiveness against symptomatic disease with the Omicron variant is substantially lower than against the Delta variant, with rapid waning. However, protection against hospitalisation remains high, particularly after 3 doses."
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1049160/Vaccine-surveillance-report-week-3-2022.pdf "...the majority of hospitalizations and deaths from covid are occurring among the already vaxxed..."
You keep repeating this nonsense from heavily biased and historically unreliable sources, but somehow you are unable to question it even a teeny bit. Not being able to even consider the possibility that you might be wrong is a very bad sign. Please just talk to someone who is a nurse or doctor in an ER or ICU. Your point seems to be that it isn't 80% of the people int eh hospital are vaxxed as the doctors have said but some other number like maybe 75% so therefore everything you said is a lie and thus the exact opposite must be true. But who would know this better than the doctors treating all these vaxxed patients? I am merely quoting the experts actually doing the work. You are calling them liars without any proof that they are liars. Are these doctors simply being malicious? Are they stupid? Anti-vaxxers? What makes you think that they choose to tell this massive lie?
Anon: Your point seems to be that it isn't 80% of the people int eh hospital are vaxxed as the doctors have said but some other number like maybe 75%
The claim is "the majority of hospitalizations and deaths from covid are occurring among the already vaxxed". In fact, the rate of hospitalizations are 16 times higher in unvaccinated adults. https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#covidnet-hospitalizations-vaccination “Until we can feel safe” is stupid life advice, terrible for kids, and not how leaders think or talk, and the guy giving it it is an overpaid corrupt bureaucrat a-hole who should be facing life in prison for funding bio-weapons development and pretending he had no role in any of it, yet still walks around a free man, dispensing shitty advice that will cause untold numbers of kids irreparable social and emotional harm.
