Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

So the CDC is now saying that it is likely that most Americans will get covid regardless of vax status. This actually makes sense and might just be the only honest thing the CDC has told us. So what was all the lockdowns, bankruptcies and craziness for the last two years all about? And why do they now want to double down on it? Your government has a plan and it doesn't include keeping you safe.
Well, it couldn’t have anything do do with falling poll numbers concerning democrats, could it? How just about every political commentary you read predicts a bloodbath for the demoncrats this November? No, it couldn’t be that. The real question is, why did they double down on stupid, after the installation of F. Joe Biden? Why does the Great Reset, keep coming to mind?

Reducing the spread of COVID allowed time for the development of a vaccine and effective treatments. The virus has evolved to be less virulent, especially for those who are vaccinated. Absent the emergence of a new variant, the pandemic should end in a few weeks. Ooops! KiddieZ now backtracking right along with the MSM.
It would probably be too much to admit you've been wrong all along. Science!!! Bwaha! Scientists believed Covid leaked from Wuhan lab - but feared debate could hurt ‘international harmony’
Put in simpler terms: don't offend China. Pussies. Sacre bleu! Banning incest? French Muslims hardest hit, as they have an execrable reputation for marrying cousins, uncles, and nieces.
A woke Hollywood? Say it ain't so...They are simply joining a woke education system, a woke corporatist system, and recently a woke health care system. Go woke and you will go broke, there is a cure for the foolishness. Hold onto the money and keep government from subsidizing them and allowing monopolies.
[from Bari Weiss]
Rochée Jeffrey, a black writer on “Grownish,” “Santa Inc.,” and “Woke,” said: “I don’t care if white people aren’t comfortable because black people are uncomfortable all the fucking time. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to bite my tongue so as not to offend white sensibilities, so I don’t give a shit if they’re nervous.” Great! there's three shows I never heard of and never watch and will never borrow the DVDs when the Public Library picks them up. "Scientists believed Covid leaked from Wuhan lab - but feared debate could hurt ‘international harmony’" -- Translation: "Feared Syi Jin-ping would kick them off the mu shu train". FJB.
If scientists aren't prepared to speak truthfully about science, why should we then "trust the science"?
"Incest to be banned in France"
Good idea! After all, look how banning murder has worked out! Being tired of something is irrelevant in safety considerations. We might indeed be able to wisely remove restrictions or at least change what ones we consider important. But how we "feel" about something is for liberals.
Of course you're wrong.
We may very well continue with pointless safety routines indefinitely, if they have minimal cost to us. The point of this article was that the protocols do damage, and the author is tired of both the protocols and the incessant failed promises that they deliver some value. So the feeling is a compelling reason to act. If think that if it was thought that the "safety measures" were really justified to save us from real danger, then fatigue would not be the predominant feeling.
We're supposed to be in the middle of a deadly pandemic but treatments and doctors who promote them (regardless how effective and safe they are) are derided, marginalized, and censored. In fact, esteemed doctors and academics who have a different view are sometimes fired and their licenses are threatened. I think this and many other similar things give a general feeling that things are not as dire as they are portrayed. The people and things to pay attention to are what and who is being surprised rather than what we're being told. Both of you ignore my point. If the evidence independently points to changes in policy, then we should follow the evidence. But our desire for the evidence to give us particular answers is always dangerous, not only WRT covid.
You both give answers that say "We are sure what the evidence is, and we are sure because everyone is sick of this." Gee, what could possibly go wrong with that? Just liberals turned inside out at this point. The actual evidence is messy, sometimes contradictory, and still emerging. Just like the rest of reality. I did not give the answer "We are sure what the evidence is, and we are sure because everyone is sick of this."
In fact I said nothing of the sort. If you stop putting words in other people's mouths, you might not be wrong so often. I agree (again) with Torch. You mischaracterized what we said.
Speaking for myself, I listed just a few reasons for people to reasonably conclude that the "pandemic" and the restrictions supposedly implemented for our safety might not be about the pandemic or our safety and how that can give the impression that "something ain't right." Beyond that, it seems that at every turn, the entire response to the "pandemic" has been a failure. At a certain point, one gets tired of following the dictates of people, who at the most charitable, are incompetent. Right along with the KiddieZ, AVI is backtracking in his own snotty little way.
Just admit you were hoodwinked and go on. Re: $58,000 for a drug without demonstrated results
Kinda like Remdesivir and the Wuhan flu vaccines. The beneficiary is the same but the costs are allocated differently. I can't believe we're still discussing the pandemic when the crisis du jour is Republican attempts to put y'all back in chains and sever the one last thin thread of democracy while Democrats bravely fight to preserve democracy by doing away with fair elections.
Jerryskids: I can't believe we're still discussing the pandemic
12,000 Americans died last week from COVID. As the KiddieZ continue their handwaving, the obvious qualifier is "from" or is it "with"?
Bringing Sanity to the Omicron Chaos...
Those of you reading this in states like Florida and Texas are probably patting yourself on the backs for your wise life choices. Which, fair enough. But for many of us in America, our lives are still being controlled by the pandemic. So close, but... missed it, you did. Your lives are still being controlled by the politicians you voted for. Until you figure that out, you're going to continue to have difficulties. |
