Maggie's FarmWe are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for. |

Damn Indo-Europeans did it all, didn't they? That they did not establish their language is odd, but not unprecedented in the world. The most common explanation is that the people who arrived were themselves mixed - one of those steppe alliances based around a core tribe but more than 50% those who signed on for the good pickings. The Huns and the Goths were similarly groups that got one name but were several peoples. This mixed group arrives but does not especially coalesce.
That would be the way to bet initially, but we don't really have much to go on. This was fascinating. As we move through our own time, more questions seem to exist after each "discovery" concerning our past. This is a fascinating discovery that does just that.
Sadly, as with Instapundit, panicking that those other guys are panicking (panicking, I tell you! They must be stopped!) has also become a lifestyle brand. We are doomed, as John Derbyshire said.
The media coverage has been somewhat hyperbolic, would you not agree?
Better than the skeptic coverage, where people are seriously suggesting that the vaccines or lockdowns are killing more people than covid. As that is not within 3 orders of magnitude, I have to give the one hyperbole a pass over the other. Granted, there should be a considerable discount for those who are merely challenging the CW versus those who have authority, but at that level of accuracy this vanishes like smoke.
Please, please remember that the skeptics are also making a good living off this. They are not only "not pure," they are more compromised. More skeptic coverage.
Merck's COVID-19 pill significantly less effective in new analysis QUOTE: Merck expects to produce 10 million courses of the treatment by the end of this year, with at least 20 million set to be manufactured in 2022. It has a contract with the U.S. government to supply as many as 5 million courses at a price of $700 per course. Several other countries have already secured millions of courses of the pill. https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/merck-says-covid-19-pill-cuts-hospitalization-death-risk-by-30-2021-11-26/ That's not skeptic coverage, that's just coverage. Skeptic coverage would be overdrawing conclusions from that.

Overdrawing conclusions?
Guess from now on we should let you decide what the proper conclusions should be. Got it.

I find it interesting that everyone is worried about offending non-Christians but no one gives a rip about offending Christians.
Fear not, and count your blessings.
Matthew 5 “ 11Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. 12Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets before you.” Yea, though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Psalm 23:4 - KJV I count my blessings everyday! Why wouldn't they worry about offending Christians? After all, it is common for offended Christians to behead the offenders. What? It ISN'T Christians who do that?!??
Oh, well then let's not talk about it. It might offend those people. China: Did I miss page two? I know it has been the standard to keep articles short, but dang, the Zaharia piece felt like he was just getting started.
The question, though, is what happens as the conditions keeping adults out of the labor market disappear and teens find themselves competing, once again, with workers who have more skill and experience under their belts.
Those broke-ass adults that have been subsisting on the dole aren't going to jump back in to the labor market unless they're confronted with a catastrophe. By then, those teens will be the experienced workers, moving up in wages and responsibility. re Where Xi's China is heading - Opinion by Fareed Zakaria
So CNN sees China as "less admired" and "more dangerous." Hmmm . . . . How about that? re The Biden Grift-and-Influence Machine Is Even Worse Than You Thought
No. It's not worse than I thought. I doubt this changes many minds. Those on the Left will either continue to ignore it, see this behavior as okay, or continue to believe it is "misinformation" and a Republican conspiracy to discredit Biden. Academic hoax is a doozy ... is anyone really surprised it made it through the academic filter?
I suspect they submitted parallel papers, substituting liberal for conservative organizations, reaching the same conclusion that funding sources influenced outcomes, and then sat back to see which one got published.
How Digital ID Will Control Your Life
https://www.lewrockwell.com/2021/11/joseph-mercola/diabolical-how-digital-id-will-control-your-life/ Levi Strauss and Best Buy offer counseling to employees distressed over Rittenhouse acquittal, including session with 'racial trauma specialist'
Disagreement over the acquittal of a white guy who killed a white guy needs a 'racial trauma specialist.' That's absurd. |
