Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Montauk Daisy

Daisys are the friendliest of garden flowers.

Our Montauk daisies (aka nipponicum) have come into bloom this week, which seems very late, but their blooms are welcome.

They have woody stems, succulent leaves which bugs leave alone, and perfect flowers.

I bought these at Home Depot on a whim, a few years ago. As a beachy plant, this type needs full sun, and seems to enjoy poor soil.

Not entirely off topic, there's a lot of Hickory nuts this year. They take some work but add a lot to stuffing.

Not on their own, you've got to mix them with the stuffing and cram it in em.

It seems these little daisy are pretty tough. What temps have you been having the last several weeks? We are down to around 42 in evenings and it has been raining for days, and days, and . . . I still have Black Eyed Susans in full bloom--why, I will never understand, but there they are! Geraniums, roses, and most all others are finished. A few calendula and coreopsis still hanging around, and pansies of course! However, my early bulbs seem to be making their way to the surface--too early I think. hmm?
Do these little Montauks bloom twice a year?

They are 3-4 feet high and only bloom once.
