Maggie's Farm

We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Freedom from nags, cranks, government, do-gooders, control-freaks and idiots is all that we ask for.

Is Psychiatry abuse returning in Russia?

The old Soviet doctors from the Serbsky Insitute for Social and Forensic Psychiatry seem to be up to their old tricks, but to a much lesser extent than in the Soviet days of the "reformist delusion" diagnosis.

Still, Russia seems like a country which is comfortable with authoritarianism in all of its forms. Story in WaPo.

Go to this page and click on "WA state mental health parity law". You will understand why it is so difficult to get good medical insurance in WA state--unless, of course you belong to a union.

There is some very scary research going on here: it existed before the internet age, and was particularly focused on controlling for the benefit of the state. Of course, now with this being an important think tank center for issues arising from the development of the internet, the psychological research is even scarier,and the competition among researchers is reaching an almost hysterical state. Not to mention the several hundred attorneys working on the control of the internet.

I don't see the research you are referring to. I do see the Parity Law, which sounds like a Psychologist's Full-Employment Act.
