We are a commune of inquiring, skeptical, politically centrist, capitalist, anglophile, traditionalist New England Yankee humans, humanoids, and animals with many interests beyond and above politics. Each of us has had a high-school education (or GED), but all had ADD so didn't pay attention very well, especially the dogs. Each one of us does "try my best to be just like I am," and none of us enjoys working for others, including for Maggie, from whom we receive neither a nickel nor a dime. Nonsense by the NewsJunkie

It only needed several thousand air and logistic support personnel from the US and other countries for the Afghan army to keep the Taliban at bay. Without that, the US-NATO molded Afghan army, which relied on that, crumbled, its troops knowing they couldn't survive without it. Trump and Biden, despite military advice to the contrary, wanted to pander to politics of war-wearied voters by saying a complete withdrawal. The result is a sanctuary for terrorists, energized Al Quada and ISIS, encouraged Russia and China (look out Taiwan), Israel's strategic reliance on its alliance with the US undermined, and other countries reluctant to depend on the US. Not to mention the slaughter of allied or innocent Afghanis, subjugation and rape of Afghani women, and children raised to hate and fight the West. All that for the political pandering removal of several thousand US and NATO troops!

Welcome the new domino theory: once one "coalition of the willing" crumbles, they all fall down.

NATO without the US, that's what the EU's been wanting for years, and now they'll probably get it because of how the "peace keepers" of several EU countries have been left unprotected during this absurd "extraction" they never wanted.

As for the Taliban, maybe they could negotiate some support contracts for the Blackhawk fleet they now own, seeing that they are now the number two operator of Blackhawks in the world.

That and other similar deals would at least put an end to Iranian aspirations of extending their former empire while the US loses its own.

But that would assume the US could see past the end of its political nose, which it can't, and this is how this state of affairs ended up this way in the first place.

In the end, self-determination is the big win, and the losers are the global police.

Yeah. But we didn't want to 'win' if it meant any noncombatant casualties, we adhered to the Geneva Accords while our enemy didn't, and was essentially invisible in the population. We tried to be 'nice' - and were seen as weak. FFS, we even went Woke in the military... very publicly too - I'm sure THAT really frightened our enemies.

How could they NOT think we were serious?

Well, we've lost. Better that than being rude, or effective... right? Maybe we can ask what their pronouns are, so we can avoid offending them...

What does any of this have to do with whites being erased and replaced in their own country? When the Taliban starts wiping out 80,000 mostly Americans with opioids from China and Mexico or starts writing articles in the NYT on how great it is whites are being decimated or until we get politicians that ask why are 85% of the troop deaths in the Middle East are white boys then I will be more upset.
Whites are told endlessly immigrants built this country. Lets only fight future wars with immigrants and let the white boys sit the next dozen wars out.

Don't blame Trump. He didn't start the war, and he certainly would not have exited in such a chaotic fashion.

I don't think Trump would have been as reckless, but don't forget that the Deep State undermined him, sabotaged his effort to withdraw from Syria, and fed him bogus drawn down reports. Trump is not a predictable wobbly wuss.
The intelligence agencies don't appear to want to take the blame so who initiated and executed this plan? Or, was Biden set up to be the patsy?

Trump committed the U.S. to a complete withdraw by May 1. Biden stretched that out a few months. That the Taliban overran the country in days, and that the Afghan army never made a stand, not even at the capital, means there never was an Afghan army. That does not mean to denigrate the brave Afghans who died fighting with the Americans over the last twenty years, but brave soldiers alone do not an army make.

Send the Taliban a direct message: Tell 'em ask the Japanese about Hiroshima and Nagasaki or the Germans about Dresden, then tell 'em to sit down and shut up.
