Many religious and traditional Jews know this psalm by heart. It is one of the psalms recited in the ambulance, and in synagogue for someone in mortal danger or distress.

The original first verse identifies this as a "Pilgrim Song". And that means it is even more direct and vernacular than the other psalms. So although "supplication" (130:2) is correct - the Hebrew word used is more like the colloquial "i"m begging you". Et cetera.

130:3 - "mark" is "keep/remember" as in bearing a grudge.

130:4 - No passive "there is" in the original. And the word translated as "but" can also mean " for/because" and "surely". So we have:

For surely forgiveness is with you, that you shall be revered/feared.

...Less argument, more about coming near to G-d.

130:5 - the preposition is omitted, making a more spontaneous and urgent expression:

I hope Lord - my soul hopes - and for His word i wait/bide.

130:6 - the word used for "watchers" is usually "watchmen" - waiting for their night shift to end... But it can also mean anyone up late in distress. There's a play on words here, it can be understood as:
More than watchers for morning watch for morning.
Or
More than watchmen for morning, watching for morning.

130:7 - no command/exhortation in the original. It's more "Israel hopes always for...

"Steadfast love" is more.typically translated as "lovingkindness". In this context it implies G-d"s compassion for one in distress, which overrides strict justice - unearned mercy and forbearance.
